Joe Goosen needs to be fired immediately. Korobov kept hitting Charlo with the left flush and Joe said it was a clean effective punch. Korobov clear win, Harrison could have gone either way.
Completely agree. He was awful tonight. The problem with these announcers is they get groupthink going, meaning one person's opinion tends to bias the other's comments, so before you know it there is an avalanche going for one fighter. The one guy who is really good at NOT doing this is Brian Kenny. He always expresses his own opinion and oftentimes challenges other announcers if he disagrees with them.
I dont think it is an easy job and it is not for everybody We can all sit ringside and watch a fight and if you have been a fan long enough you can also score a reasonable or maybe a very good score card . Imagine doing that with all sorts of other stuff going on and people in your ear and trying to get the timing right . I dont think it is an easy thing to do
Just on the payroll. They were all the same. Weird, creepy commentary all around tonight. Brain washing stuff.
I always liked Goossen. I always thought he brought good energy to the broadcast. I thought Foreman was terrible.
Yeah but sometimes or most of the time it's definitely not a distraction thing but rather a plain bias thing. It's noticeable since you'll have a commentator calling action from one guy whilst ignoring/minimizing what the other guy is doing, or worse twist it as some sort of success for their guy. Like if a guy is landing bombs on their fighter they'll praise his fighter for toughness, little things like that, rather than praising the guy doing the damage.
For Korobov. TBH that was the only round I missed a big portion cause I was getting beer. Korobov landed 2 really clean lefts, I went to get beer, and there was like 1 min left in the round, and I didn't see Jermall do much to steal the round. Only round I gave Korobov from 5-12.
Korobov landed two more lefts just like them. Charlo landed a check hook but nothing really of note. My point is that the commentators stated multiple times that it was a great round for Charlo.
And? Let's say they got that round off? Does it mean they called the majority of the fight wrong? Nope.
This. It's nothing new for commentators to push the house fighter....hell, they're told to by the guys writing their checks. That's their job. What are the odds on them getting called back on to another PBC show if they don't show love to the house fighter for the sake of building up a no-name Russian at the twilight of his career?
