He clearly won that fight Matt won 4 good rounds that’s it and was close to being stopped in the 12th. Matt is tricky and a southpaw, Charlo adjusted well in the second half and defended his title. I get your not a fan of Charlo but he showed a great pair of whiskers and excellent conditioning and focus. Don’t let your biased surpass commen sense. That being said GGG fights completely different and this fight has no bearing whatsoever on what would happen between Charlo and GGG.
we'll have to disagree then. Charlo didn't really show great whiskers, considering the guy he guy he fought has mediocre power, is 35, hadn't ever went 12 before, was inactive for quite some time, was coming down from LHW.
I doubt he can KO GGG but Golovkin is a different style than Korobov (orthodox fighter with power, unlike a southpaw). I doubt GGG outboxes Charlo like Korobov did, he probably stops Charlo. But Golovkin is getting up there in age and is coming off a couple of grueling fights so you never know.
Charlo would not be a slam dunk for GGG. GGG is getting old and Charlo was fighting a lefty tonight, which made him look bad. Charlo did look one-dimensional, though. Not that impressed.
Charlos are not on GGG's level, even this older GGG. That's not a diss, I don't mind them but GGG is a top tier elite fighter.
GGG's list of opponents when he won his gold medal at the world amateur championships in 2003. Very impressive indeed. Defeated Matvey Korobov (Russia) PTS (19-10) Defeated Andy Lee (Ireland) PTS (29-9) Defeated Lucian Bute (Romania) KO 4 Defeated Yordanis Despaigne (Cuba) PTS (29-26) Defeated Oleg Mashkin (Ukraine) RSCI-2
Korobov was hands down one of the best amateurs I've ever seen and he peaked in the amateurs IMO and he was so badly mismanaged in the pros and had such rotten luck (and again it seems) that he hasn't even come close to fulfilling his full potential. Yep and he comes across as a really nice guy too. Such a shame the way his career has been mismanaged and the rotten luck he's had.
I get the feeling GGG is going to be on the downside from now on. But I am not sure he is on the downside this badly to lose to Jermell.
Styles makes fights, and Charlo will give it a good go and probably have some success because GGG will be a stationary target, but GGG has a hell of a chin and an offensive firepower like charlos never seen before. I like the fight and think Charlo has earned that payday, but I think GGG knocks him out.
