Beating guys you're meant to lose to is better than beating guys you're fully expected to dominate. Both were fight off the year candidates as well. Where do I look into the camera to say Warrington is fighter of the year.
Usyk/Gassiev was viewed as a 50/50, plenty on here were backing Gassiev. No doubt the venue change to Mother Russia helped even up the odds but still..
I doubt LSC fights Warrington and no-one is interested in GRJ. Would love to see a unification with Valdez. Should be in England. Quigg and Galahad have got no chance and should just fight each other.
No Usyk beat a title holder in Latvia, .Title holder in Russia and a highly ranked fighter in the UK. In doing so he unified every CW title claim, defended his belt and did so away from home every fight. Warrington has had a superb year, but Usyk has been another level.
Usyk is still top by a mile but Warrington is definitely 2nd. I think it's like this: 1. Usyk, 2. Warrington, 3. AJ, 4. Jacobs. Not sure who I'd have 5th but those are a clear 4.
Usyk Gassiev was not a 50/50, even here in the WBS predictions it was 27-4 in Usyks favor Murat Gassiev (4) vs. Oleksandr Usyk (27) Mairis Briedis (0) vs. Oleksandr Usyk (39) Oleksandr Usyk (29) vs. Tony Bellew (2) Now Warrington was: Lee Selby (26) vs. Josh Warrington (5) Carl Frampton (22) vs. Josh Warrington (6) There's no comparison.
