Is GGG underrated? Honestly.

The guy is clearly a very special fighter, 345-5 amateur record, poorly managed early on in his career, came to US possibly on the back end of his prime (just look at the way how much quicker and fleet footed GGG was at 27-28) and dominated everyone, destroyed all comers, at 35 beating Jacobs who outweighed him by 15-20lbs, well past his prime, at the age of 35 he beats Canelo 8-4, on the front foot, then a year later he beats Canelo 8-4 again this time on the back foot, countering masterfully.
His defence is so incredibly subtle and underrated, he rides with every singlr punch, blocks them sneakily with his gloves + one of the best jabs and chins in boxing history, fantastic footwork, very basic but very effective.
In his prime he was close to unbeatable, he is a very very special fighter as shown by him whooping Canelo at the age of 36.
I would not favor any MW ever over GGG in his prime. Hagler and GGG would be a brutal and incredible war though. I’m ready to possibly be ridiculed by the above statement but no man would knock him out and can’t see many if any outboxing and outhussling him.

Agree with this. A truly special fighter, one where past prime he is still beating the best the world has to offer..Incredible talent !

Don’t forget canelo threw his title in the bin rather than face golovkin in his prime. As for him beating the likes of hagler monzon hopkins etc it’s debatable. But it would be a classic. Think he has been managed poorly though. Hope he stays away from a third canelo fight as can’t face him being robbed again

That's where he should be though, in that debate, your right
Hard with where he was from, im surprised he got the massive money at the end to be honest. They waited him out and still couldn't beat him fairly lol
Thing is, if the likes of you and me and 80-90% of level headed boxing fans see it for what it is, who cares if they try and rob him anymore, I mean its seriously not ideal, but the monies there for him and with each performance against Canelo he's exposing boxing corruption. Boxing history has no choice than to remember him as an atg middle

He's a divisional ATG and had a continued presence in this era's P4P list, most rate him just fine IMO.

He's the best MW of our era and imho, the best MW since Hagler.* I don't know how much the Canelo robberies will affect his standing. I just rewatched the 2nd fight and he was ripping Canelo up something bad. But, it could be that future fans won't watch the fights and assume that Golovkin met his ceiling there because it says so on boxrec.

    * With RJJ excepted on a H2H basis and even that could be debatable.

Only real blemish was his most recent fight I thought Ginger beat him clearly in a competitive fight (I gave GGG the 1st bout) He’ll go down as a bonified HOFmer for sure and an ATG status can still happen. Monzon, Hagler and Hopkins all have bigger scalps on their resume at the moment. I know this board has an intense support for EE fighters and it’s healthy to show love and advocate for fighters who personify the brand. I just can’t cosign subjectivity when it comes to rating fighters careers against the best to do it.

Not at middle. Pressure, cutting off the ring, i'm sure he's gonna catch Roy at some stage

Golovkin is an awesome physical entity. You could tell certain people on here are triggered by his success.

Lets have a look at Golovkins duck list, its a lot bigger.

    Andre Ward
    Sergiy Derevyanchenko
    Big Charlo
    Billy Joe Saunders
    BouBou Andrande
    Callum Smith

Canelo never ducked Golovkin since he shared the ring with him twice. If Golovkin wanted the fight with Canelo when he was at 154/155 , he could have had it since it was offered to him. He shut that idea down and instead chose to wait for him to move to 160.
GGG was Canelo's first at 160. Unlike GGG , Canelo has the minerals to take challenges at higher weight classes.

Look at the end of the day mate we all have our own opinions of what happened and what should have happened that is why these forums are so good. My opinion is canelo has had very lucky breaks against fighters The only reason why he lost against nayweather was because at the time money was the bigger draw. But that is my opinion right or wrong
