Interesting that the AJ fight hasn't been brought up. Wlad's last fight where he displayed fantastic boxing skills, a sturdy pair of whiskers and fantastic heart.
He displayed some of his well known weaknesses, like shi.tty stamina, no punch variety, no finishing skills, no inside game and a weak chin ..
If you're trolling, bravo, that was funny. If you're being serious, especially about the stamina and weak chin then you've lost most if not all of your credibility when discussing Wlad
Big deal, Briggs had no defence whatsoever. George just kind of stuck his arms out and if he'd had magnets in his gloves they couldn't have been guided any faster to Briggs' chin. It's a lot harder to have "good stamina" when you're the guy getting nailed repeatedly and trying to close the ring down on a bigger, younger and faster boxer.
Why? He punched himself out vs Puritty, Brewster and Joshua. Barely made the distance vs Sam Peter. When he wasn't allowed to excessive clinching, he had stamina problems. What's there to talk about his weak chin, the man was hurt and in panick everytime he got hit...
He was age 41 out of the ring for 1.5 years, and let's be honest AJ would have badly beaten the older Foreman we are talking about. Wlad in his prime had fantastic conditioning, even his opponents say so. As for his chin, he could get up, but I doubt Foreman catches him with anything serious. No punch variety? Now your approaching Dino hater status, Ticar. Wlad had an all-time jab, right hand and left hook. He was excellent at three punches, and in his prime could do things like hook or the jab or delivery a straight laster like right hand after the jab landed. Geez. Wlad opted not to fight inside, and with his advantages, why should he? Instead, he became perhaps one the best clinchers of all time when he needed to do it. Foreman fans should hide his come back fight with Ken Lakusta, as the journeyman, and I'm being nice using that world wobbled Foreman. Alex Stewart made his face a mess ( and Stewart had a weaker chin ) and Tommy Morrison who was not a boxer easily outboxed big George.
Blade, Don't confuse a slow pace and fewer punches ( Foreman style ) equalling better stamina. Foreman was a great media story, but he was a plodder in there in the 1990's. Slow, and easy to hit. Guys like Lou Savarese and Alex Shultz who would have zero chance ( Wlad actually destroyed Shultz, watch it sometime ) arguably beat Foreman. Gasp! Yes, it happened, see the films. This is who we are talking about. I'm convinced the people who are picking Foreman simply hate Wlad or didn't watch him in the 1990's. If you want to say Wlad should win, but old Foreman has a limited punchers chance, so be it but I'm not reading that point of view here.
Dear Mendizzy, Fact is that George Foreman, young or old was never ko'ed in spectacular fashion by genuine sub par opposition like little skill Ross Purrity....Lamon Heavybag Brewster or by a flash in the pan Golfer who besides icing WK never beat a quality opponent...... he also never kissed the mat from ham and eggers like Touch of Sukk or Sam no skill Caveman Peter, as a matter of fact Foreman never was knocked down in his entire comeback.................Holyfield Foreman will walk WK down while eating some nasty shots but has the chin and confidence to proceed making WK panic which results into a WK break down aka KO loss.
What are you talking about. Foreman didn't face punchers like Lewis, Tyson, Bowe, Ibeachuchi, or Tua in his comeback did he? No. Morrison was not in there to slug, rather out point, and he did that easily..yet you " think " Wlad could not do the same?! Sorry that's laughable. Ali who doesn't punch in Wlad's zip code had Foreman down for the count. Jimmy Young floored him and IMO would have finished him if the fight was 15 rounds, and Lyle had Foreman hurt and gassed in the early rounds. Did you see the Lakusta fight? Foreman wobbled as stated by a journeyman. Or how about vs. Alex Stewart, Foreman lucky on the cards and his face was a mess. Ya think Wlad wouldn't do some balloon and art work too on Old Big George? Brewster wasn't slow. He took a lot of punishment, how he got up from hat right hand, I'll never know the loss was avenged in style. Since Brewster his opponents said there were going to walk Wald down. Once they got into the ring, we saw the truth. It did not happen I feel like this is a Dino thread with him going 0-14 picking against Wlad as champion. The poll read 22-9 dude, and I'm shocked there are 9. You'd figure Dino, his alt and maybe someone else. But your in there with the 9
You're very disingenuous describing the Lakusta fight that way in this context. What actually happened was Foreman knocked him down and hurt him badly, and Foreman, thinking he was done, was a little too casual when he went to finish him off. When Lakusta got up he desperately rushed Foreman and caught him by surprise with a wild haymaker right on the jaw with all his weight behind it, which would have knocked almost any other fighter right on his ass. George was just a little wobbled and put Lakusta down for good about ten seconds later. Lyle probably hit as hard as any of the fighters you listed, and Jack O' Halloran -who Foreman butchered - was bigger than any of them.
In this thread: Mendoza once again ignores all of wladmirs flaws and focuses on the flaws of the other guy. Didnt see That coming. Wladmir is more skilled than Morrison and holyfield who outboxed foreman but foreman has no chance of repeating what flat footed punching bags lamont Brewster and Sam peter managed to do even tho he's bigger, more skilled, and harder hitting than them???
