Canelo might be good enough to win legitimately. He's speedy and accurate himself and his counterpunching can put the brakes on even the best offense. He's got more stamina and is also much more durable at 160 than he was at lighter weights and Nunn on the other hand tended to fade a bit down the stretch. I'd really like to see Canelo vs Jacobs to get an idea of how he'd do against a much larger high skill opponent before passing judgement. This is a 50-50ish fight to me at the moment. Of course, in Vegas, Nunn is screwed.
What has Canelo proven at 160 to think he'd beat Nunn? That he was awarded two dubious decisions over Golovkin? A fighter with a total different style from Nunn. All we have to go on right now is the last time Canelo fought a slick southpaw.. he got a gift, and hasn't fought another slick southpaw since. And Lara, while very good, was a step below Nunn.
I think this would be a very close fight. I'd give the edge too Nunn but I could see Canelo getting a close decision as well.
Nunn was on the move against Barkley who had a more straight ahead style than Canelo.Moving against Canelo would be easier.
And we have a split decision ..After 12 round s the result is ,,ADraw !!! When in reality Nunn actually won by 9 rounds to 3 ..
Here's the reality of it .. Team Oscar would only let Canelo fight Nunn if he got out of jail tomorrow without a tune up ... Canelo is the most pampered fighter since the last third of the career of Chavez .. it is brilliant in how they are doing it but disgusting if you are a fan of the sport .. they fight an old, blown up 140 pounder in Cotto, he gets a steal draw against GGG and then a horrendous decision over GGG all after GGG is ancient and now completely pushed to the side ... he fights a journeyman 168 pounder in a PPV in MSG .. he signs the most lucrative deal in sports .. it's really something. Maybe Ward will come back after a two year layoff at 35 and fight him next.
Nah, Byrd can give a fight to anyone. Nunn at his best was too long, fast and elusive and should win a decision.
agree here, so much so that I don't think we are even talking about Canelo here if this didn't happen .. His name would still be in General
life and death battle? Starling stayed close at times because he held his hands up and blocked, but his punches were no bother to Nunn who was just too big.
