Jermall Charlo vs Matt Korobov 160 1 9-10 Korobov 2 9-10 Korobov 3 9-10 Korobov 4 9-10 Korobov 5 9-10 Korobov 6 10-9 Charlo 7 10-9 Charlo 8 9-10 Korobov 9 9-10 Korobov 10 10-9 Charlo 11 10-9 Charlo 12 10-9 Charlo F 113-115 Korobov 1 119-108 Charlo 2 116-112 Charlo 3 116-112 Charlo I thought the cards were terrible. I scored 4 rounds as close but 2 went to each fighter so if I flipped them I'd have the same score. Upon revisiting Korobov was a lot more effective later into the fight than i initially remember and he gassed less than I thought he did. Charlo has flaws and I think flaws similar to Wilder: wide stance, maybe a little too complacent with his power, loads/telegraphs his right. I still think hes a top fighter at 160 but not quite what we were told by his biggest fans Charlo did some things right vs Korobov: 1) Never abandoned his jab despite it being tough to jab a southpaw 2) Never gave up, kept throwing combinations, almost got him out of there late 3) Made adjustments, he definitely narrowed his stance which allowed him to move better later in the fight 4) After being aggressive he started to try and draw Korobov in and counter 5) Finished exchanges with his left hook while Korobov was still in range and landed it several times and stunned him with the hook 6) Especially early in the fight rallied when he got hit by a good left whether he landed or not which probably helped him win
I had it a draw; gave Charlo Rounds 7,9, 10, 12, along with 1 and 5. There were enough swing rounds that 116-112 either way was feasible, and if anything I actually think I'd lean Charlo, since I thought the 11th was really close and could have swung the other way. Charlo relies more upon athleticism than he should, but he did keep his cool and make some adjustments later on to work his way back into the fight against a style that clearly gives him a ton of trouble.
hes being crucified in the general forum but i think the criticisms are going too far sure I thought he lost but he fought well especially considering the guy was a late sub and a lefty I'm pretty surprised they would face a guy like that in those circumstances I thought he was better than the original opponent monroe

Here is the second title bout between Shozo Saijo and Frankie Crawford. A tight, close, evenly contested bout. In fact, I will say it is probably the closest fight I've ever scored. I always heard about the Saijo jab and it is good. It is a hard jab as opposed to Frankie's which is sharp and more of a point-getter. On the other hand Frankie had that sharp left hook and visibly hurt Saijo in the 4th round. Terrific contest and if anyone scores this, be on guard, the Japanese audience scream at everything Saijo throws. So don't be swayed. here we go, 5 point must in effect. Round 1: 5-5 Even Round 2: 5-4 Saijo Round 3: 5-5 Even Round 4: 5-4 Crawford Round 5: 5-5 Even Round 6: 5-4 Saijo Round 7: 5-4 Crawford Round 8: 5-5 Even Round 9: 5-4 Saijo Round 10: 5-4 Saijo Round 11: 5-4 Crawford Round 12: 5-4 Crawford Round 13: 5-4 Crawford Round 14: 5-4 Crawford Round 15: 5-4 Saijo (if anyone scores this round even I wouldn't bat an eye) Total: 70-69 Crawford So close with a total of 4 even rounds which is the most I think I've ever had in a 15 rounder. Saijo really took his foot off the pedal in rounds 11-14, which Frankie took advantage of. it was desperation that had him throwing hell for leather in the 15th, but Frankie's work inside with short combos was also very impressive and again, I wouldn't bat an eye if anyone had the 15th even. Very good contest.
I loved the way Crawford would spin his opponent into a corner and make him pay. He did it to Mando a number of times in their first fight. He was a damn good fighter. I also saw his fights with Chucho Alonso, Memo Morales and Rodolfo Lobato back in the day. Too bad these fights aren't out there. Would love to see them again.

Thought I'd have a look at a fight I saw but didn't score back in the day. Riddick Bowe v Tony Tubbs. 10 points must in effect. Round 1: 10-9 Bowe Round 2: 10-10 Even Round 3: 10-9 Bowe Round 4: 10-9 Bowe Round 5: 10-9 Tubbs Round 6: 10-10 Even Round 7: 10-9 Tubbs Round 8: 10-9 Bowe Round 9: 10-9 Bowe Round 10: 10-9 Tubbs Total 97-95 Bowe Actual scores were 97-93 and 96-94 (twice) all for Bowe. But watching it I can see why many either have it a draw or for either fighter. It's a tough one, fought very tightly. Bowe was steady and Tubbs fought in spurts. In the end I was happy with my decision but can see how others differ.
Jung Koo Chang vs Sot Chitalada I Does anyone know the official cards? I don’t speak Korean and can’t find it on boxrec? Anyway, one of the most satisfying fights I have watched. Both guys are highly skilled (although my guess is Chitalada is pre prime? At this stage), but also dirty with quite a bit of fouling. The ref seems to be tilted towards Chang even though he gives him a couple of warnings, he gives more to Chitalada especially early on. It also seems like the judge deducted a point from Sot, so my card reflects that (please let me know if I am wrong, I can’t understand the commentary to confirm this.) Chang gets cut in the 6th (accidental head butt???), and really seems to impact him later in the fight. Anyway my card: 1 Chang (Chang 10-9) 2 Chang (Chang 20-18) 3 Chang (Chang 30-27) 4 Chang (Chang 40-36) 5 Sot (Chang 49-46) 6 Chang (Chang 59-55) 7 Chang ( Chang 69-64) 8 Chang (Chang 79-73) 9 Chang 10-8 (Chang 89-81) 10 Sot (Chang 98-91) 11 Sot ( Chang 107-101) 12 Sot (Chang 116-111) Man that cut Chang suffered in rd 6 seemed mess him up in 11-12. It looked bad, I thought they might stop it in 11, but glad they didn’t. Fun fight to watch. If you have seen it, well you know....but if you have not seen it, check it out, it’s worth the hour.
