1 rd. 2 at most. Imagine if Richie almost stops him in 1 and MUNIZ beats him and they are the 2 best he fought. Gomez is great great. Crybaby hits the deck early. The whole time complaining to the ref. Sorry Philly. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!
Well he did take the Muniz fight on a couple of days notice, and the rematch kind of revealed the truth between the two of them...and by the time he lost to Sandavol well, he probably shouldn’t have even been allowed to fight....but oh well.... Anyway, hard for me (surprise) to pick Chandler with any confidence above Bantam since he never did test those waters. He did claim in an interview that Gomez went pale when Chandler told him he was next....but even I don’t buy that one lol. I think Jeff is much more skilled (Gomez is the most overrated fighter on this forum, and whoever is number 2 isn’t even close) and looks good for 4-6 rounds having a slight lead. But the bigger Stronger Gomez begins to wear him down in the middle rounds. Over 12 gomez takes a nice decision 7-5/8-4 over 15 I am not sure he would stop Jeff, but even I wouldn’t rule out that possibility. However Jeff KO’s Zarate in 8 and Pintor in 10!
Chandler more skilled than Gomez is a lunatic statement, and borders on trolling. It kind of kills your credibility in calling Gomez overrated when that statement alone overrates Chandler to the nth degree. Gomez was better both offensively and defensively. It's not even really debatable. It's also hilarious that you would pick Chandler to stop Pintor in 10 when Pintor went 14 with Gomez, and went the distance with Zarate. Both Gomez and Zarate are all time great punchers. Chandler was not... not even close. Not sure why you think Cokin Jeff was some great puncher. He was a GOOD puncher, but nothing more. As for how this fight goes down.... I'll give Chandler more respect than Morlocks. I doubt Gomez finishes him in 1-2. But if it's the Gomez of the Zarate fight, I don't see Chandler lasting more than 5-6.
So why did you start this thread? You already know what you think. You know most people on here think Gomez is unbeatable...you know I am a Chandler fan... If all you have is incredulous insults where you already have your mind made up and don’t want my input...why adress me at all? Oh well have a good one mate
Chandler would give a decent account of himself at his best. It's possibly too much to expect any Bantam to beat him. Chandler had no weaknesses and brought a fine all round game to the table. Gomez was declining when he fought Pintor tho it was certainly a fantastic effort from both. Around the time he fought Zarate Wilfredo would be a nightmare for any guy moving up - like Sanchez was for him. As far as Chandler - Pintor pick'em for mine.
I think you're getting a lil too defensive. I'd just like to know how Chandler was more skilled than Gomez.
For a fighter that had only a couple amateur fights before he turned pro, Chandler accomplished a hell of a lot more than what should've been expected. Tall for the weight, with long arms and a heart the size of Mt.Everest he was one of the premier weekend fighters on CBS sports during the early/mid 80's. But as good as he was, Gomez would be a mountain to high. Prime Gomez was just on a different level. A great fighting a very good. Gomez would stop a brave but battered Chandler within 10 rds. prime vs prime.
Love Jeff one of my all time favorites, Gomez would rag doll him . Great big man vs a very good little man.
Gomez would beat Chandler. Gomez was a very strong and powerful natural 122 lb guy. Chandler was a natural Bantamweight.
LOL. Zarate and Pintor were extraordinarily durable at 118. lbs. Chandler can't stop Gaby Canizales, who is durable but less skilled than those two, and we're supposed to believe he can ko Zarate and Pintor? No. It is possible to have a favorite but still be able to analyze his potential matchups objectivlely. I don't think you seem to be able to do this with Chandler.
Yeah, Chandler more skilled than Gomez is one I've never heard before. And the stopping Zarate and Pintor part... as if Chandler was some devastating puncher. Once again, Chandler had a good power.. I especially love his KO of Solis in the rematch, but he wasnt generally a devastating hitter. Both Zarate and Gomez carried a lot more power, and Pintor went deep with one and lasted the distance with the other.
It’s all good bro! I dont feel extremely biased but am aware that you and others do. I don’t have a problem with picking against guys I like or root for, and just picked Olivares and Jofre over Chandler in another thread. If having a different opinion than you makes me biased??? Frankly I could care less. Style and skill I am comfortable picking Chandler over Zarate and Pintor....if picking him to beat Zarate and Pintor and lose to Jofre Olivares and Gomez makes me biased? I can live with that. People view fights and fighters with different outcomes, not sure why that would be hard to grasp...or why you need to denigrate some one who sees a fight/fighter differently than you...but if it gets you through the night have at it bro
Joltin Jeff was like the Camden Buzzsaw a street fighter who skills crossed over into boxing and was a natural and became World Boxing Champion in a incredibly short period of time with virtually no AM exp.
