Not sure why all the hate for Ward. He admitted after the fight with Kovalev that the fight could have gone either way. He also stated on a later broadcast he was doing that he didn't fight the best Kovalev. He just doesn't have a fan friendly style or persona. The SOG thing might **** people off though.
Ward is much more complete than Canelo will ever be. And has the better resume. He is in every sense the better fighter.
No he isnt, Kessler and Froch are overrated due to them losing to your A side Diva Murican athlete Ward. Canelo has the vastly superior resume
I just can't shake those Kovalev performances from my head. Ward got boxed to pieces in the first fight and I don't care what anyone says....it wasn't competitive. He was dropping all the early rounds in the second fight until Kov gassed out after 5rds. I'll take Clenelo every time against Ward. He's vastly more skilled than Kov.
Both Ward and Canelo's best victories came through A side corruption and robbery. Canelo benefited from corruption with his one victory and one draw over Golovkin, and Ward benefited through corruption with his victories over Kovalev.
Ward is considered by a majority to be an ATG, or at least very close to it. If Canelo were to retire today he would be lucky to get in the HOF. Ward has the more complete skillset and the better top wins. If you want to call Ward a diva on some defensive fanboy trip go ahead, doesn't change the fact.
Canelo will get in because of the fame part, I'm not sure if he retired right now he'd be HOF worthy on strength of resume. But I suppose he would. The point being, Canelo just makes it in if he does, Ward has no question.
Ward can fight at all ranges with a high ring iq and defense he's more complete than canelo is. Canelo is elite in his own right but ward is better and would win a fight between the 2.
Canelo actually fights fair, a much better boxer, Wards best win is A robbery over Kovalev which it wasnt even slightly competitive. Regardless both are scum and a disgrace to boxing. Canelos resume>Wards.
Ward moving up to fight Kovalev was one of the biggest challenges anybody has taken in the last 20 years. I don't even think Mayweather took on such a risky fight in his career. To call Ward a coward is just plain wrong and reeks of disgruntled fanboyism . Point me to a bigger act of courage by another fighter in recent memory. Canelo taking on Golovkin is up there as well , so being courageous risk takers is something they both have in common.
