I think Fenech beats them all h2h, but in terms of accomplishments at the weight Chandler is clearly #1.

Orlando is pretty low on there, and I'm critical of Orlando at times.

I feel like Lora on his best day might outbox Pintor.

    Jeff Chandler
    Lupe Pintor
    Miguel Lora
    Orlando Canizales
    Raul Perez
    Albert Davila
    Julian Solis
    Jorge Lujuan
    Richard Sandoval
    Gaby Canizales

Honorable Mentions: Jeff Fenech, Bernardo Pinango, Kiko Bejines, Elijiro Murata, Oscar Muniz, Greg Richardson, Daniel Zaragoza, Harold Petty, Freddie Jackson, Wilfredo Vasquez.

Solis beat Lujuan, and they both lost to prime Chandler, but they pushed him.

I rated Sandoval relatively low because something was clearly wrong with Chandler when they fought, he may have lost it all at once. Canizales then beat a severely weight drained Sandoval, so there is an astericks on that win, as well.

Fenech beat weak IBF competition, then beat Zaragoza. Zaragoza was losing to Freddie "Pebbles" Jackson in their WBC title fight, but Jackson was DQd for low blows, so there is an aesterics next to that win.

Pinango beat Gaby Canizales for the WBA title.

Bejines kod Solis and was ahead on points going into the 12th round against Davila.

Murata beat nobody of note, but pushed prime Chandler, and got a draw in one of their encounters, though likely home cooking scoring wise.

Oscar Muniz beat Chandler in a Non-title fight but it was at 122 lbs. In the rematch for Chandler's 118 lb title, Chandler stopped Muniz. Muniz did decision Jackson and Bejines.

Petty twice beat Zaragoza, but twice lost to Sandoval, and lost to Richardson, who also beat Muniz and Gaby Canizales.

Petty also beat Jackson, who was once again DQd for low blows.

Jackson beat former Flyweight champ Antonio Avelar and lost the aforementioned DQs. He also beat rising Kronk fighter Hurley Snead in Detroit, but it was changed to a no contest after Jackson tested positive for Marijuana, That war seemed to take a lot out of him, as he was kod by Seabrooks, who then engaged in a fantastic albeit losing war in losing his IBF title to Orlando Canizales.

Vasquez won the WBA title and defended with a draw against obscure competition, and lost to Lora, Perez and Avelar.

I am also glad to see Gaby rated above Orlando and just about right IMO

LOL. I don't know what gave you the impression that I was a Chandler hater, or didn't think he was a quality fighter.

I just don't think he was a top 10 all time bantam, but he was clearly the premier bantam of the 80s.

I'd pick Fenech over him H2H though.

Is this your list or KOs?

Orlando was clearly a better and more versatile fighter than Gaby, but it's true that a lot if his best work was in the 90s

Lupe Pintor looks a bit high to me, if we're focusing on '80s achievement. Lora should be above him.

I can see why people think Orlando Canizales should be higher, but wasn't he a late entry into the top-flight of the '80s? The longevity of his title run, in the main, sits in the 90s. Gaby did more than him in the '80s, so it right for him to be rated higher.

I agree with those questioning Fenech's placing. His credentials at 118 are slim and even his win over Zaragoza was at the 122 limit (and both would excel above 118).

Lol just messing dude! By the way I would pick Fenech over Chandler as well...but then again I would pick Fenech over Gomez as well. I just think he was that good. If he was from Philly people might think I was biased for him to lol

Good point. I kinda lost track of the fact that we're discussing purely the 80s.

Yeah, Gaby did accomplish more than Orlando in the 80s. But I don't agree with those who think Gaby was better, I think it's pretty clearly Orlando. Gaby was a bigger puncher, but Orlando was just more skilled and talented and would fare better H2H.

So yeah, in this case... Happy Lora should be the clear #2 bantam of the 80s.

Will you just stop it!!!! This was the final fight of Gaby’s Career, well removed from his best in spite of beating Lora. If you want to pick Orlando as the better that is fine...most do, I don’t.

To say Orlando wouldn’t lose to Duke McKenzie makes no sense and has nothing to do with this. This is like the 3rd time in the last month you have referenced this fight. It is just as easy to say Gaby wouldn’t lose to Frankie Toledo. Just stop it
