I'd take Barkley if he could survive the early rounds. Carter was VERY dangerous early though, there's a chance he would whack out Iran early. But The Blade had more substance between the two, and if he survives, he wears down Carter.

Good cracking punch up .I see both wading in to each other from the first Ding of the bell .Barkley survive s a early blasting ,a Kd or two in the first even ,to stop Carter around 7 .

I happen to like Bakley but he had a bit of the same trouble Mike Weaver had, a slow starter with a chin that was not granite early .. he could and should beat Carer as the much bigger guy but he'd have to be really warmed up and prepared.

The Benn fight was stopped because of the incredibly stupid three KD rule - that rule robbed us of what could have been shaping up to be an epic war. Remember, if the stupid ass 3 KD rule were always in effect, then Pac would have a KO 1 over Marquez in their first fight, and they never form a rivalry.

I would have loved to see Benn-Barkley continue. Maybe Benn would have knocked him out anyway, or maybe Barkley would have rallied, but either way Barkley wasnt hurt badly enough to justify stopping the fight without the stupid 3 KD rule.

And Moore would have lost the title via a 1st round TKO to Durelle.

The Blade showed in the Hitman first fight he could absorb enormous punishment and comeback. This wasn't the Blade at his best as he was caught early and had weight problems and it was last fight at MW.
A rematch at 168 lbs would have been a barn burner while it lasted.

It's an interesting matchup because one seems a bit underrated (Barkley) and one a smidge overrated (Carter). Still, there's a small gap there. Carter is more efficient and just cleaner and more effective. He stops Barkley somewhere around the 8th.

Carter said Mr. Tiger beat him up worse of all his losses.

This is a good point and I agree with you on some level. But I’d also like to point out that Nigel Been was a much better fighter to expose Barkley’s early round weaknesses than Rubin Carter.

Carter obliterates him early. If he doesn't, he loses.
