Pacquiao stepped up and took on HOFer's and fought them in wars. In the last 20 years he has taken on bigger challenges.
Given what we now know about Kovalev's drinking and training I think he was as ripe for the picking. Still a great effort on Ward's part though.
. He had known hand problems, watch how he changed his technique from boxer/ puncher to lighter volume puncher. What was he meant to do, pack it in because his style wasn't everyone's cuppa. He wasn't even 100% and he was still the best super middle on the planet
I thought about Pacmam , he's in the conversation as well , but its debatable if the challenges he took on were greater. He imposed catch-weights and drained his challengers too , whereas Ward and Canelo didn't.
If Canelo Alvarez was able to make Golovkin look like an insane feather fist of ridiculous proportions by being able to walk through each and every one of Golovkin's best / money shots without suffering a single knockdown in combined 24 rounds, then you better believe the possibility that Canelo would fail to even tickle from any of Andre Ward's even sissier, weaker and feather fisted punches. Canelo literally walks right through Andre Ward whilst showing 0 respect to any of Ward's punches or his power and destroys him in the process. Ward has nothing in his arsenal that can even put a dent in Canelo or even discourage him / make him hesitant, when even Golovkin failed to stop Canelo from walking through his punches. Canelo is no glass jawed Kovalev who has insanely limited punch resistance. Ward is going to have no answers against Canelo Alvarez!
Canelo has. When he was Jnr Middle champ a lot of his non title bouts were at catch weights and he made sure Chavez Jnr was drained by catchweight. He also put in a rehydration clause for Fielding. As for Pacman he's moved up in weight 8 times. Any catchweights in the last 1/2 of his career have merely off set the very significant physical disadvantages from moving weight class so often.
Wishful thinking. Just about.as good a post as GGG beating anybody from 54-68..... Though I'm sure your you'd Have GGG knocking out Ward at any weight. Lol
I think Golovkin would have an easier time against Ward than Canelo would, yes. On the surface it seems that Ward's slow pace might suit Canelo but, it's a slow pace that involves imposing his size and endurance on a smaller guy who is not noted for his stamina. I've no doubt that Canelo might look good in spots, but Ward's relentless mauling, butting and legal / illegal bodywork would eventually tire Canelo out and he'd crumble. In my opinion. If you have an alternative view, let's hear it. I'm no fan of Ward and I'd much rather say Canelo whoops him, since Golovkin whooped Canelo ... but I have to call it like I see it.
Correction.... Your beloved GGG got beat,.it is what it is. But as skilled a boxer Canelo is,.id have to favor Csnelos chances of winning against Ward,.over GGG. STYLES MAKES FIGHTS.
Yes if he could not throw a legitimate scoring punch with the knuckle part of the glove .What he threw were slaps with the inside of the glove. Ir used to be called lacing & us ILLEGAL!!
Oh CJ please. Why did everyone elect to box him if he slapped ?? Why not walk through him, because that's how it works. You feel out, dip your toe in the water, if he's weaker you crank it up, walk him down. Anyone that walked joe down was stopped
