Carnera holds him off until AJ smashes him in the mid rounds, probably gets a ref stoppage after 2-3 knockdowns

That being said, AJ still needs to prove himself. I'd say with absolute confidence that Prime Carnera would be his best opponent to date

Wlad and Povetkin at their ages would have smashed Primo easily.

You guys really hate Carnera on this forum, huh? Even to the point where an old, stamina-less, slower Wlad and a an old Povetkin who's lost his spring (and was already a limited fighter) can beat Carnera...

Wlad in his prime beats Carnera like a dog, I'll admit

Joshua is too green at this point and his defense needs work, since he’d be getting worked on the inside by Primo. Primo loved fighting guys his size, since they were easy pickings for his uppercut and easy to hit in general. The smaller fighters that were experienced and crafty were the guys that gave him trouble, since they were very difficult to land on. Primo in his prime was better than everybody on Joshua’s resume.

Carnera had a glass jaw and was a sucker for right hands, his defence went to pieces once he was tagged ,his power is also grossly overated. He has no chance here.

Does Carnera even go .500 against Joshua's last 4 victims (Wlad, Takam, Parker, Povetkin)? No sure thing.

He would probably beat all of them except Wlad.

Joshua would be all wrong for him.

Prime Wlad and Povetkin? Or the older versions AJ fought?

I'd say Primo beats Takam and Parker, especially if the ref is the same for the Parker fight. I'd pick Carnera over prime Povetkin, but not Prime Wlad by any measure.

Carnera had a glass jaw based on what? Carnera regularly faced much better competition than Joshua has or for that matter any of the current top heavyweights and had 84 matches before ever being stopped and if not for the ankle injury he suffered against Baer there is a good chance he would've went the distance.

Also, I like Joshua and think he has the potential to become a great fighter, but as of now hasn't proven himself to be half of the fighter people hype him to be and is still very green, but given time who knows what kind of fighter he'll eventually develop into since he's only 29 years old. The only guys worth mentioning on Joshua's resume are Wlad, who was old and shot and coming out of retirement and Povetkin, who despite being a good fighter never was all he was hyped to be even in his prime because like Tua he was lazy. Whyte and Parker would've on the other hand would've been novices in Carnera's time and wouldn't have ranked.
