A primer: how 10-counts work (if a fighter is knocked down) and how they don't...

It amazes me when people don't understand how ten-counts in boxing work. They are not ten actual seconds on the stopwatch or computer. We go by the count of ten OF THE REF. Since time immemorial. Even now, in the new millennium, with all the accordant technology at our disposal. You can measure out ten seconds flat, down to a millionth decimal point using digital means - doesn't mean squat, as far as boxing is concerned. The ref counts, and if you beat the ref's count, and you seem in okay condition to him to continue, then you do so. That is that.

(on the converse side of this argument, when people get mad at "early" stoppages when a guy is floored hard and then barely makes it up at nine and change or ten and gets waved off anyway, some of these knuckle-draggers will say the losing fighter was "robbed" by the ref because he "made it"...um, no. That isn't how it works. You have to be up within the ref's count - not ten seconds by any other measure on earth, but the REF'S count - and seem, in his opinion/at his sole discretion, in okay shape to continue. If both conditions are met, the knocked down fighter may proceed to fight...)

I never ever argued that the refs count should be identical to the time between the knockdown and the fighter standing up.

I argued that jack Reiss deliberately slowed down his count to give Fury more time to recover. He made the count but he was definitely given more leeway thann normal

Not gonna entertain the trolls but spot on. 10 count and 10 seconds , two completely different things. The Jack Reiss interview after the fury fight was great when he gave his reasoning. He said beforehand he would give either fighter a good chance to show they were ok and that’s what he stuck to with the fury knockdown in the 12th, great reffing as he was clearly capable of continuing - that’s what the count is for.

I mean Wilder nearly KO'ing Fury is very impressive considering how behind he was and that alone is enough to sell a rematch. Him using this evidence is just damage control kind of like what Tyson's team did after Douglas

It was an impressive knockdown, the man has great power. He doesn’t need to be complaining about those kind of things when Fury has the most to complain about. Do the talking in the 2nd fight, if it happens.

Pffffft, this post of facts is all well and good but there is an agenda to run with and im afraid things like this does not have a place in Wilder fans very latest theories.

Bearing in mind you have now accepted that 'ten counts' are not 'ten second counts' (And ignoring that the count being nominally longer than ten seconds was the entire basis of your argument re: Fury) how are you now providing evidence for your long count theory? And how have you objectively measured this apparent 'long count' now you can no longer refer to the time taken in seconds elapsed?

What do you mean accepted "now," that was known to me many years ago. People just like to change the narrative.

Watch him as he does the count compared to how he did counts from his other fights.

    There's a HUGE diff there.

But how have you measured this alleged anomaly? How have you made this comparison and analysis without using '10 seconds' as your mode?
