Why does Eddie Hearn keep saying "he's securing his family's future"

All Hearn said in the run up to Canelo-Fielding was that Rocky is securing his family's future. I'm happy for Rocky to make that money - good on him. My problem is as a fan, I'd prefer to see canelo in with a world level or at least fringe World level contender. And Fielding in with someone like Parker or Ryder.
Sky should be pushing for competitive fights rather than walkovers.

But, like I say, I'm happy for Rocky with the money he's making but as a fan I'd rather see a competitive fight than a fighter have a stronger bank balance

Hearn pushes a narrative for the cult to follow and repeat.

The one before Whytes PPV against Parker was 'Whyte deserves a big payday'

He is a pro at this.

Because 400 grand is not enough to fight Chisora who was getting schooled for a euro belt for 30k ...joke...

The sky ppv is an outrage imo...nut a fool and his money etc

i bought Warrington v Frampton because it was a potential top class fight with a guy coming to his peak and another slightly past his peak...genuine PPV with belts and future big fights ....

I understand that people like to blame for Hearn for everything on here, but how can anyone blame him or Fielding for taking the Canelo fight. You can blame Golden Boy for making the offer, but no-one in their right mind would reject that fight in Fieldings position.

Sky should reject it. Not good for fans at all. It's like Joshua fighting Robert Helenius - completely pointless but good for the Helenius bank account

Whether sky rejected it is irrelevant. Sky were not paying Fielding Golden Boy were.

You the fan can just choose not to watch it.

Why would Sky reject a fight that costs them peanuts. As DAZN were putting up the majority of the money, surely it's on them and GBP

To make a point to Hearn that bad matchups won't be tolerated

As if they would turn down a Canelo fight and viewers on a non PPV that they are paying peanuts for because a couple of ‘true’ boxing fans didn’t like it. Have a day off

Don't know the numbers, but it probably bought Rocky a nice house and a few hundred k in the bank. Fast car an easy little earner.

When he says that it pretty much means his fighter has no chance. I don't mind though, professional fighters are in the game for the money, I don't begrudge any of them a payday. Especially the Fielding v Canelo fight, Fielding sold his belt to the highest bidder, fair play. And as for Canelo, he's coming off the back of two GGG fights, he had earned an easy one.

I agree. But such uneven matchups shouldn't be seen as a good thing. Surely as a fan your priority is to watch an entertaining and competitive fight, not watch someone get rich??

Fans should be more interested in getting a good fight

It's another more romanticized term for ''cashing out''.

Sounds more sympathetic than saying he's fighting for a big pay day

This is the matchroom model, build the fighter up against cans and then cash out against a big name and pretend there's a chance of the hero overcoming all the odds.

You could see the smile on Fielding's face when he was knocked down from Canelo's body shot, knowing he had turned up and done his bit, serving as a body to collect his pay cheque.
