Pretty self-explanatory. (An example of my own: For the longest time I considered the Tyson-Stewart fight to be as obvious a dive or quit-job as Tyson-Seldon, but when I went back to it a few months ago, to my puzzlement it appeared far more disputable than I remembered. ) Does this happen you you? If so what's a particularly head-scratching example?
I thought Walcott stayed down on purpose against Marciano in their second fight Upon rewatch and a slow-mo of the knockout, i felt that Walcott was actually very shaken up and was out of his senses
Leonard-Hearns - Davey Pearl's stoppage always seemed a little premature to me but having rewatched the fight recently, he got it spot on.
He got it right. Had he let that go on Hearns might not have had the long career he ended up having. 35 more fights and many more titles. He won a title 10 years after this against Hill. Would that have been possible had Ray leveled him on the canvas?
Rumble in the Jungle seemed like less of a miracle upon rewatchung it. What I see now is a very inexperienced fighter at championship level that expected to walk through his opponent because of his monster power and got taught a very hard lesson in fighting intelligence and ring smarts. Roy Jones was even better than I first thought and clearly didn't take as many calculated risks in the ring as he could of done, because he simply didn't need to. He was that much better than his competition and fought most of his fights with less than 100% effort Canelo missed a lot more wild swinging punches in his second fight with Golovkin than I first anticipated. Floyd Mayweather's KO of Victor Ortiz is even funnier upon rewatching it, especially when you consider Ortiz deliberately head butted Mayweather just beforehand.
I feel strongly it would have been since Hill was really a cheese champion. Any of the fab 4 beats that Hill. Tommy should of been able to fight until 10 was counted over him. He too was champ and deserved at least that.
Yes it was a great stoppage. Impossible to say how it might have affected Hearns if allowed to go on but Pearl deserves kudos for sure.
I don't know. Sometimes when a fighter is knocked out badly I think his career will never be the same. When Curry was knocked out by McCallum he could never be the same. Norris against Jackson is different, but in that he didn't take a beating.
I thought it was a good stoppage also. Hearns fought less than 3 months later, and it probably wouldn't have happened had he been knockout out like Hagler knocked him out.
Curry was an excellent boxer. Hearns was a great. A good solid reliable Buick vs a BMW. A different league.
