I thought he had the fastest hands in heavyweight history other than Floyd Patterson. I thought he beat Bowe.
Tubbs surprisingly says Tyson was the strongest, although he doesnt seem to be giving the most straightforward answers. Perhaps Tyson in fact did have considerable physical strength that rapidly dissipated after the first few rounds? 16 kids what in the world
Bowe was fortunate against Tubbs I scored it a draw. Tubbs was talented fighter. Wasted talent in ways. Nice read.
Patterson was a 180 pound guy. So he wasn't a heavyweight by modern standards unless you going to put other 175-180 pound guys up there. But Tubbs was pretty fast, so was Michael Dokes.
Nice read. I always enjoyed watching Tubbs. If he had weighed 230, he may have beaten Witherspoon and tested Tyson better. He was in shape against Page and Bowe and moved well in both fights.
Would love to have seen a in shape ,motivated Tubbs against Tyson in 88.OK ,the odds against him are massive beating Peak Tyson but would be interesting to see Mike really put to the test. TT had the skills ,the talent just not the willpower.
He should never have stayed in the pocket like he did in the second round, he couldn`t take Tyson`s power and he couldn`t hurt Mike either.
Instead of strength maybe he meant power because the hook he was caught with by Mike was one of Tyson`s rare one punch KO`s, also Tyson`s biceps were very big so when Tubbs was in the pocket clinching he might have felt that strength even though Holy easily manhandled Mike when clinching in the Autumn of Mike`s career.
I didn't say Tubbs would have beaten Tyson if in better shape, just that he could have lasted longer and tested Tyson more.
