We so often hear of fighters ducking fights or avoiding fighters for years on end. So I was thinking, over let's say a 5 year period, who actually at the top of their weight fought whoever was in their their division and beat them all. Completely cleared the weight out time and time again and ducked no one..
I think every top guy in their division had at least one or two contenders that people will say they “Ducked” or should have fought. This will be difficult to find guys that literally fought EVERYONE in their division. Probably have to go way back before there was 4 major belts and so many mandatories. Willie Pep and Joe Louis MAYBE? Marciano during the last 5 years of his career?
Marciano during the last few years of his career, and he made a habit of fighting old greats who had nothing left to give
Who else at that time could have given him more trouble than Charles, Moore or Walcott, Moore even dropped him, but did go on to call Rock a coward for retiring, I think he felt Rock dodged Paterson.
Deontay Wilder. He will fight anyone, doesn’t matter if they’re a bin-man or a road sweeper, an office worker or a janitor, come one come all. In fact he doesn’t even care if you’re 56, you’ve got high blood pressure and heart problems, or had a 3 year lay off and mental health problems, he will fight anyone, any state of well-being, any age, any profession. None of these things matter to the champ, he doesn’t even care if you have boxed before, you bet your life that he’s up for the challenge. None before or since will ever fight literally anyone the way the champ does. Long live the King.
