Every great has a poor performance. This was Rocky's I guess.

Not sure why he has such a hard time putting Cockell away. Cockell had been stopped sooner many times in his career.

I don't really see this fight as a knock on Marciano, after all he got the job done. But it was an opportunity for him to blow away sub par opposition and obviously he didn't do that.

These things happen with big punchers. Similarly the Foreman Vs Peralta fight always bemused me.

Ok, so Louis didn’t say that, he instead compared him to the guy who found a flaw in his style and pounded him for 12 rounds?

Is it really your contention is that Rocky Marciano and Muhammad Ali really sparred ?! You realize that it was choreographed by a radio DJ, Rocky wore a toupee and they shared grapefruit between takes! Do you think that perhaps the fact that Rocky was tragically killed in a plane crash three weeks after the filming may have influenced Muhammad Ali’s comments?

While you are a bit rude I must admit your childlike belief that this pseudo-computer match was real is almost charming. Take solace in the fact that I never claimed that Rocky lacked power, I just don’t believe he possessed the preternatural ability to separate all time greats from conscious with a single blow. He is not my only all-time favorite who won fights by attrition.

No not really casual fan. Unless you think Ted Lowry was a better fighter than Roy Jones Jr or James Toney. Also if 160-170 pound club fighter Ted Lowry could beat Marciano then why couldn't tons of light heavyweight champions over the years do the same?

Ted Lowrey was a very tricky fighter. Clearly he was a potentially great fighter who didn’t sell tickets. In order to make a living He sold out to become an excellent and busy journeyman. I imagine all the fights he lost on points were as the away fighter. He probably deserved to win multiple times more than he did. In an interview Ted said that Rocky had really improved to the extent Marciano won fair and square in the rematch. Lastarza also fought Ted and he said it was as much of an honour to fight Lowrey as it was to fight Rocky for the title. Such was the respect for Tiger Ted in the business.

Lol right there is no known footage of Ted Lowry fighting. But what we do know is he was a 160-170 pound fighter with 68 loses and 70 wins. So who cares who respected him? Also who cares if Lowry think Marciano got better by the time they fought a second time? Marciano still got his butt whipped and almost knocked out by a club fighter. So if one 160 pound club fighter could beat Marciano then better 160-170 pound fighters could beat him as well. Also if a 160-170 pound guy who wasn't know for being a big puncher could almost stopped him and had to hold back. Then it is amusing to see biased Marciano fans think he could handle Mike Tyson, George Foreman, Lennox Lewis, Riddick Bowe, David Tua, Ike Ibeabuchi, Vitali and Wladmir Klistchko's power.

I bet my house Marciano KOs Douglas, Brewster, Rahman, Young...every fighter has off nights including the greats like Tyson Foreman Wlad Lennox Ali...all of them. You’re a troll though so don’t why I’m arguing w u. For the record I personally like Foreman Ali and many other great heavies but it seems Marciano is disrespected by trolls like yourself more often. Maybe it’s his skin color that irks you?

Peralta was stopped 3 times in over 100 fights once when a lhvy by big punching Mauro Mina ,once by Pastrano on a cut eye and once by Foreman , and Peralta fought quite few punchers,Urtain,Lyle, Bonavena, etc. Peralta was a cagey defensive fighter, you could hardly say the same about Cokkel! Marciano said he hit him all night with his best punches and they didn't seem to affect him. Years later I briefly spoke to Don, he said he was never the same after Marciano.

That's a tasteless remark.Should we say in reply, it's exactly his skin colour that appeals to you? How would that be?

Lowry was never a potentially great fighter, he was a jobbing journeyman with almost as many losses as wins.
Christ the lengths some will go to!

It's just one of those results were you'd expect someone to win by KO and it didn't happen.

I wouldn't like to have been part of that fight for either man to be honest.

I've argued with him lots of times, and will do so again,I can't remember him ever saying anything as tasteless as that though.
