As others have said u out this itv 1 promote life out it then u put winner on ppv. So short sighted even for idiots like the Eubanks On fight itself think degale is so far gone he will make Eubank look like a world beater
It’s clear that Itv don’t know their arses from their elbows. Sticking Eubank v Yildrim and Groves v Cox on PPV rather than getting exposure for an upcoming Groves v Eubank and the WBSS tournament was lunacy but they did it.
It's nuts. I think this fight/card could be a huge success on terrestrial TV. The Eubank name v the olympic gold medallist/former world champion. The viewing figures could be massive for what I believe will be an exciting fight. For the sake of no more than a million quid, they're gona limit the audience to about 50,000 people.
That suggests you think the whole promotion should chuck a million quid in the bin in order to increase the number of people watching. The genie has long since left the bottle. Floyd Mayweather became the richest sportsman in the world fighting exclusively on PPV. If your job was to earn as much money for yourself, the networks and your fighters as possible, you would take the option that generated the most money.
We've seen some awesome PPV con jobs over the years. This isn't enough to topple Tony Bellew as the GOAT pay per view fraudster, but it is up there. What makes this one really special is DeGale recently giving up his world title at the same weight! I'm amazed to hear how he justifies it without just admitting he's on the swindle.
I would take a gamble on that million, in my opinion you would not lose that million if you done things correctly. You could make that money back through advertising, you go to companies with projected terrestrial TV numbers and they will want to advertise. Depends on what and who you advertise but it's very doable.
Oh FFS just realised.. Eubank Jr will be walking around with the IBO belt again, giving it the big man after he beats a faded uninterested DeGale. I hope DeGale wins to be honest, I'm not a fan of either but Jr is far more unbearable and delusional and that really is saying something.
Using my head, I had Junior being all wrong for this injury ravaged version of Degale and posted my thoughts on it earlier in the thread....but after watching the presser and the interviews, i’m actually wondering if Degale might have done what many world class fighters have done before and since and that’s performed down to the level of his opponent (Truax). He was an underwhelming opponent who turned up on the night. When I hear Ronnie Davies saying that Junior still doesn’t listen, still hasn’t got a trainer and that he thinks he should be fighting down at 160, I do start to wonder...Junior once again looked smaller against a genuine 168. Degale is a genuine talent, a real world level fighter who would have made Junior look garbage a few years ago. Junior has average boxing fundamentals but he’s a real fighter though. This is a really intriguing match-up. To me, the key to victory for Junior is to force the pace from round 1 until Degale starts retreating to the ropes...however, if Junior does what he’s done against Saunders and Groves and tries to box them at a gentle pace for the first 6 rounds then Degale will beat him.
DeGale is finished and a final bag of PPV loot awaits. If he had anything left, he would have been defending his World Title. DeGale knows, the promoter knows, ITV know and yet the cohort of PPV Mugths have no idea - they are being mugged again
My worry is if Eubank tries to box, he went quiet after the Groves win and clearly went away, then thought the Irish lad and I apologise as I forgot his name. In that fight whilst it lasted Eubank did try and just box but didn't look very effective, if he ends up doing that he will lose to Degale. Eubank should fight how he did against Groves/try and maul Degale, because unlike Groves, Degale will retreat to the ropes and I don't think he can jab properly anymore. If Eubank fights relentlessly in bursts like he normally does, he should be able to win this.
