one of my biggest pet peeves is giving a fighter a win in a fight that never happened we've seen many upsets to know its never a sure thing
As I said, even with the scenario described by the article, I wouldn't rate Golovkin higher than I do now. There's a LW, Esteban De Jesus who is often rates very highly based on the assumption that he would have ruled the LW division were it not for Roberto Duran. The only time I like to consider default victories is ducks or failed drug tests. Maybe in 09 Golovkin gets bombed out in a round and we never see him as a world class fighter. Maybe he beats Pavlik and goes on a tear. We'll never know. But the point of the article is that he was ready for his shot back then and it took a very long time for him to receive it. And the balance of probability is that he was denied a stint as the number 1 MW.
The facts say he lost, which is why you are crying here with absolute nonsense like that pile of crap. Alvarez stood in his face, traded with him and busted him up. Golovkin was left confused, inactive at times and didn't quite understand why his opponent wasn't a tomato can that would back off and hit the canvas as soon as he charges at him face first.
Pursuing bigger names by moving up becomes a necessity when your career is going nowhere fighting in your weight division. A lot of fighters were forced to make a move up and they had to take it. Golovkin and his team weren't pursuing greatness, they were pursuing easy money for as little risk as possible. They had a mindless following that would cheer on regardless so why take any risks?. It's really simple and obvious. I promise you if it wasn't for easy marketing thanks to social media, no one would've heard of this guy back then if his team chose the same route they did and no one would've given him a free payday(Alvarez x2) either. They would've been forced to take risks they didn't need to take today. Hell I would be surprised if people even remember this guy 10 years from now because that's what their strategy was. Make money fighting bums, bark on social media about the KOs and screw legacy/record until someone is forced to donate a payday.
Did no one read Fishnets open letter after the rematch? He basically admitted GGG was robbed in the first fight because he doesn’t bring in enough money to Vegas.
I thought GGG was supposed to KO Canelo so the judges wouldn't be a factor atleast that's what I was led to believe by GGG fans here on this forum. In fact Able stated that if it went to the cards in the first fight that they deserved to lose. That's how confident they were on Koing Canelo and it not even going to the cards.
You're talking like you only started following him when he went to America. I'm talking way before that.
GGG isn't the first guy to get hard-done by the sport of boxing and he certainly won't be the last. Kovalev had to fight his best years for free on the club circuit. He missed out on Dawson and a primer version of Hopkins. You don't hear him crying about it. Martinez didn't make it until he was 35 years old. Nobody weeps for him. If the sport was fair on everybody , Selcok Aydin and Carlos Abregu would have been given their mandatory shots at Money Maywewather. Does anybody give a rats ass about them??
What was happening way before that?. Am I missing something legendary?. Perhaps his win over Kassim Ouma?.
His power was literally exposed right there. As soon as he fought someone that had actual defense, could move, could adapt and could actually take a punch, all this talk about his power being murderous went straight out the window. The funny thing is, Alvarez was looking to get KO'd in the rematch. He was literally in his face and exchanging with him and it was Alvarez that got the better out of almost all exchanges.
So because GGG didn't KO canelo (Which to be fair, he has a solid chin), that means he automatically loses ? Please please tell me where in the boxing rules it states that.
No he drew the first fight because he lost the first 3 rounds and the last 3. In the rematch he got backed up busted up and beat up. If they fight again GGG might get stopped.
over 75% of fans/pundits/professional boxers (Who know a lot more about boxing than you or me) stated GGG won the first fight. The second fight was closer but still had the majority in favor of GGG. If we go by judges, Roy jones got beaten by Park Si-Hun Because he lost majority of the rounds from the Koreans "clear boxing skill".
