Not at the moment the only way id see it is TJ vs Burnett on a KT headlined event in the 3 arena, and unfortunately that doesn't seem to be in anyone's plans for herself,
First things first the Under 22 championships weigh in this weekend Jordan Moore,Paddy Donovan,Gab Dossen, Kevin Sheehy all just kids all class acts to dominate and then 4 weeks later do the double in the National Elites which will be one of the best in the last 10 years, Pro step ups for Conlan, Quigley and Mc Kenna in the states Comebacks to world level for Burnett Barnes Spike and Frampton Hopefully successfully defences for Katie and TJ (but not at home) Domestic pro boxing to continue as limited talent but entertaining matchups, Euro shots for Eric Donovan,Gary Cully and maybe one of the ladies, 2 terrestrial TV pro shows and the obligatory Elite championships Medals at every amateur international championships and very little cover by the national press An incident involving a boxer or boxing event getting every front page and all the national tv news programmes
I think the foundations are being laid for decent professional circuit here in Ireland. We need some big shows in Dublin to generate the sort of interest that can make headlines.
The problem is our silly fragile boom-bust economy. The budding pro game could be killed at birth by a downturn just like the "Bernard Dunne golden era" was killed off by the last one. With brexit and all the other looming threats things could go south fast for our pro game at any time.
Gotta agree the price of a pro night out is minimum north of 100 euros any way you look at it that is a luxury item and 99% of domestically based pros get paid by aunty mary buying a ticket off them. So if no surplus money no Aunty Mary money.and looking at incrediible rising house prices and other amenities it would appear we learned absolutey nothing by the cruel strangulation of the beautiful celtic tiger. Still hope the lads keep punching and living a dream looking for that one shot that may do something positive for them.
Katie unification fight on the undercard of Framer vs Jono Carroll in Philidelpia March 16th, Not a bad way to spend St Patricks day
Keller must have been offered a ball of money, no way he would go back to that fight unless it was well worth his while, he performed beyond expectation while Cummings under-performed on the night, I thought he might try get a top ten opponent possibly in the states...but you know the old american boxing saying "if it makes dollars it makes sense"
