It's simple. The smaller ATG s were smaller but were skillful than a lot of the modern day super heavy s .Not all modern big guys mind ,suchlike as Lewis ,Klitschko's etc .But the lesser skilled Big heavy s do have advantage s obviously ,size, weight ,reach ,but a lesser skilled today s guy could only use those so far against a older AT G imo .Skill and talent normally wins out.

So you're telling me a 200lb Mercer would have been able to walk through the shots he did?

Obviously weight matters but it isnt the only factor. Even skilled big guys can lose to a smaller fighter. Holyfield and bowe for example.

Did the extra bulk and muscle help frank Bruno against Tyson? What about the shredded muscular mike weaver losing so many times?

Did the extra weight help butterbean or alexander ustinov become ATG's? They had like 40-50 lbs over many of their opponents.

Hard to judge people when they haven’t beaten anyone of any significance except an over 40 Wlad. Just want to see how they react to certain things from decent fighters.

Mercer had a granite chin, Louis did not. Kind of a big deal when taking leather off 240lb+ power punchers.......

So basically the same has back in their days then.

Louis could feast on lesser skilled giants, beating highly skilled giants though is a whole new ball game.

Do you think Jarell Miller will beat AJ, Fury and Wilder?

1-again, dont you think the fact he was fighting joe louis have anything to do with why he didnt look so great (according to you)? Baer had a record of 56-5 (50 Los) before facing louis and was never kod before so he must have been doing something right.

2-baer managed to drop what some consider the #1 or #2 hw. Doesnt that indicate some sort of boxing ability? You dont see bouncers or cab drivers dropping Ali or tyson in exhibition matches do you?

3-better inside fighting is the reason bowe was able to beat holyfield in the 1sr fight. Holyfield's best performance in their trilogy was the 2nd fight when he decided to BOX bowe instead of having a phone booth battle with a bigger guy. Inside fightinf is what got miller the stoppage against wach.

Similarly, you can argue that wladmir klitschko's lack if infighting ability is the main reason he got knocked out against Brewster and couldn't keep samuel Peter from charging in. If he had that skill, im fairly certain he wouldn't have struggled nearly as much.

I know hes more skilled than baer. Youre completely missing the point.

No one had a hard time landing on bowe. Herbie hide nailed him and bowe said he was one of the hardest punches he faced. Golota landed on him with ease in 2 fights. Tubbs gave him all he could handle. Thomas landed plenty of shots, and none of those guys had the combination of skill and handspeed joe louis had--and hide, thomas and tubbs were similar in height and size to louis. So why do some extremists act like Bowe just walks through louis and demolishes him in 1 round?

Average age of an AJ opponent is like 36...give me some prime guys please. Not really his fault most of the better guys are older. I want to see all of them fight the best of their division. How can I say AJ would beat Louis Arguably the greatest HW ever if he can’t beat Wilder or Fury? We got some answers w Fury v Wilder but even then some question marks came up for both fighters

I think he will put in a great effort but all 3 should beat him, likely by points.

If he can get in to the shape of his life he has as a good chance, he has a great engine for his size.

Parker is the prime example, he also beat a very dangerous Whyte.
