I will pay £10. Not ideal, but arbitrary least itv giving us some free cards and ain't a subscription channel like sky taking then **** with ppv
I know where you're coming from re securing a mass audience and building this into something bigger. Problem is that 7:30 on a Saturday night is prime earning time for ITV and they aren't likely to antagonise whoever is tuning in for The Voice/Antsubstitute and Dec or whatever other inane nonsense they have planned to bring the delights of Selby and Joyce to their regular audience. It could never happen, the ad revenues are just too big to sacrifice. The on,y way a boxer is appearing at that time is either if their name is Anthony Joshua or they're in the jungle eating worms.
Won’t pay ppv but tempted to go since I live next to the o2. Trouble is none of my mates will come with...one responded “who are they?”
That question happens when fights are watched by a tiny % of the population hidden away on PPV. PPV is rank rotten for boxing in the long term
Why why why? Time for boxing fans to grow some balls - take a leaf from our union fathers / grandfathers - miners, steel workers, postmen ... Time to withdraw our labour - or in this case - keep your money in your pocket - that simple ... or be shat on forever more by our Masters - Hearn & Warren
This is fraudulent event in every sense, farcical and misrepresntation in being sold as PPV material. For a start Eubank has been exposed both times he has stepped up to fight credible opposition and was blown out by Groves the last time he was seen. Degale is past it and was schooled by golden glove fighter truax and I won't waste another minute of my time watching his shyte. Hopefully this bombs big time hitting the broadcaster with a financial loss and prevents these con artists from robbing the public of PPV fees ever again.
Where was that hunger against Groves and the potential of him fighting for the Ali trophy and all those belts that now Smith holds? Lol, Eubank is a Instagram fighter. He has no IQ. He is not going anywhere above low level European status. I think even Skoglund and Braehmar beat him convincingly. Junior is a fighter who has been carefully matched to look like a killer. Throw him in the ring with Jack, Dirrell or even Uzcategui and see how well he would hold up. He is supreme garbage.
Why do you blokes hate on this as PPV but think Whyte vs Chisora is an epic PPV worthy fight lol? Absolutely spastic imo lol. From the sounds of it most of the brit "hardcore" would never pay for a Jr fight regardless. Getting a freebie from Young Christopher would not benefit him lol. Ffs it was reported that millions streamed his Groves fight? What is the actual difference between millions watching it on a stream and a similar number watching it on free tv? It is the same exposure isn't it? Would you really be more inclined to buy the next one if you got this free? Highly unlikely imo
I reckon 10 quid is reasonable for PPV, and if Sky and BT reduced their fees to this level there would be less to complain about. For me, the problem is moving to a situation where every meaningful fight is slung on PPV for twenty quid, which as a Sky subscriber is increasingly unacceptable to me as a principle. Anyone subscribing to sky (for example) should be offered borderline PPV events at a much reduced fee. Anyone, say, taking Sports packages ought to have had the option to buy Whyte/Chisora 2 (dodgy ppv) for about £7. This would be a much fairer model. £10 for Eubank / DeGale doesn't seem too unreasonable to me. Both fighters do have a high enough profile, both are big enough names, the build up and fight itself is going to be interesting and certainly not boring. I reckon £10 is ok, not that I'm sure I'll be paying for it.
