    Exactly.

The idea that Joe Louis had a bad chin is complete fantasy.

Jesus, he was a massive 2lb lighter than in his previous fight. I would hardly say he was on death's door by losing such massive amounts of weight.

The facts are he was buzzed badly by a relative feather fist who also happened to be over 20lb lighter. If this isn't evidence of a shaky chin I don't know what is tbh.

The other problem with the argument that Louis had a poor chin, is that you still have to explain why he wasn't getting stopped for all those years.

The only conclusion that you are then left with, is that he must have had exceptional defense.

The same people who denigrate his chin, usually also want to denigrate his defense, and you can't square both positions with the fact that he wasn't getting stopped.

The only reality here is that you've taken one moment in one round, in over 400 rounds of boxing fought by Louis, and clung to it like a baby on a teat; thinking it makes your case. But, in view of all the other evidence you flagrantly ignore, your one minuscule point doesn't stack up.

Ok so now we are meant to ignore these "moments" in a fighters career?

Louis got rocked by a light hitter who was nearly 30lb lighter, these are facts. If you can't grasp that then that's not my problem.

A typical strawman response, from a poster with a witless agenda.

Did I suggest he was at death's door? Fact is he ate little, and drank sparingly drying out to get under 200lbs that is an acknowledged fact.Q. Did he go down in that fight?A. No. Much Ado About --- **** all really!

I don't believe that, more likely an excuse for a poor performance from him. He was around 2lb lighter in his previous fight against Baer.

And no he didn't go down but he was hurt by a light hitting fighter who weighed nearly 30lb lighter.

I think this vulnerability would have an impact in a fight against someone like AJ or Wilder, do you agree?

Of all fighters I find Louis to be one of the most honest in evaluating his own performances.
Do I beleive what he said in his auto biography about this fight? Yes I do,you want to call him a liar that's up to you.
I think AJ and Wilder hit hard enough to stop anyone if they catch them flush whether they would be successful in absorbing Louis' incoming and staying upright to land their bomb is another matter.
Max Baer a 210lbs terrific righthand puncher landed a cheap shot on Louis after the bell,Louis just turned and looked disdainfully at him and walked to his corner.
Schmeling also landed a big shot after the bell that Louis absorbed without going down.I think you grossly overstate your case, but that's just my thoughts.

AJ got up against one of the biggest hitters the division as ever seen and Wilder's chin doesn't look half as bad as we once thought.

Louis would have to get past shots from those to dynamite punchers to land his own, I just can't see him taking those kind of shots.

That wasn't the point you were making. On top of this Louis was fighting a much better opponent and took umpteen dozen right hands thru the fight before it was over.

Holmes was knocked down and hurt many times. It's what you do with it that counts.
