The list of those who ducked Maske is proof enough of his status as an ATG.

Maske was more awkward then good. Shades of Ottke .
Hill went to Germany and beat him. Fair and square.
Maske had a nice little run in Germany and made good money.
Had he left he would have had more losses.

Had he fought contenders instead of handpicked nobodies, he would certainly have a few more 0's on his sheet!

well no, Toney fought Williams immediately after the Maske fight.Toney stopped Williams while Maske had to settle for a competitive points win.

I was only talking about Duran Williams. You know, Maske took on another name American fighter in Barcley because that fight was far less risky.Regardless of the Griffin losses (which were bad décisions), James Toney would have been a big name on Maske's resume. I guess Sir Henry just did not want to take the risk.

Look, I was referring to the stoppage of Duran Williams. I never referred to Charles Williams. The 2nd Toney - Griffin was voted worst decision of the year. And no Toney won many more bouts at light heavy.

Look Toney completely schooled Barkley and yet you are asserzing Barkley is more Worth than Toney.

As far for the IBF, you may have a point there. Toney fought for the little regarded WBU title and I am not sure he was ranked by the IBF as a result. So I would not say Maske ducked him but he did not want to face himn either. He preferred to defend against lesser opponents ,

This is pathetic.Toney stopped Duran Williams in 9 rounds. You can check on boxrec or even watch the fight on YouTube.
I guess you never watched Toney-Griffin II, you are way off there as usual.HBO had that fight 9 rounds to 3 for Toney. The fight was voted worst décision of the year.
Toney schooled Barkley at whatever weight and then Maske fought Barkley after that.Enough said.

Hill quite clearly. Then Make quite clearly. The Tiozzo clear third.

Toney lost only 2-3 rounds against Duran Williams.

To be honest, the timing for a Toney-Maske was never really there. Maske was not gonna risk himself against Toney if he did not have to. Also, Toney made bad career choices by fighting for minor titles such as the WBU. But it would have been an interesting fight.

Maske was rusty and out of. His prime. Hill was out of his prime, too. Still, prime for prime, I think Hill was the overall better fighter with a better record of achievement.

Toney beat some excellent southpaws in nunn, Johnson and Jirov. The "Gentleman" was pretty stationary which is what Toney liked. Toney was a master at slipping the jab. Still Maske's tactics and height would present him with some problems. I would pick Toney by decision. That would however be far from certain if the fight is in Germany

Well like Tiberi, Maske might have the same lack of certainty of winning a decision if they fought in AC.
