Watched that interview and two names that he clearly wants no part of was Usyk and Ortiz, i was surprised as i genuinely thought Whyte was a 'fight anyone anywhere' type of guy.

He rolled out the old cliche that these fights wouldn't sell, said no one knows Usyk, even mentions the hardcore boxing fans and casuals, i think even the so called casuals would buy in to the Usyk fight after the CW WBSS and Bellew fight.

    Exactly

He sells this narrative that he will "FIGHT ANYONE!"

But dont want it with Ortiz or Usyk

Hes a top 5 HW and i give him a 50/50 chance against Ortiz and Usyk

Nobody wants Ortiz apart from maybe Uysk, he's far too much risk for too little reward. So Whyte is in good company as many heavies would choose someone else over Ortiz. Even Usyk probably prefers the Povetkin fight due to it's superior marketability.

Personally I'd like Ortiz to get a big fight soon either with Whyte, Joshua or Uysk. But these guys will always have better options than him when it comes to opposition so I doubt he gets his big fight any time soon.

So basically it sucks to be Ortiz right now when his best option is a novice in Joyce. But Ortiz made his choice not to sign with Matchroom and fight Wilder instead, it's seen him side lined so he only has himself to blame while other heavies who are willing to work with Hearn get regurgitated again and again in lucrative fights.

Look at the stage of his career hes at. Done more to deserve a title shot more than anyone. He isnt exactly going to start calling out guys without titles when he knows its his time.

Here's a novel idea for you. How about Ortiz start fighting a few top ten heavyweights and former titleists and earn his shot as mandatory rather than fight barely top 50 fighters and expect a shot to be handed to him on a plate.

The problem Ortiz has nobody in the top 10 like would want to fight him, he's too much risk and too little reward, which is why he's left scraping the barrel with guys like Kaufmann. He paid Kaufmann 125K to fight him I can't see guys like Miller, Parker, Chisora etc accepting that kind of money or even double that to fight Ortiz.

Parker's last fight vs Flores was PPV in NZ like all his fights, he isn't accepting peanuts when he's used to PPV money from NZ and the UK.

Chisora just made millions most likely vs Whyte and he turned down Joyce for similar money to what Kaufmann was paid and Chisora might have far more lucrative options still despite his loss to Whyte.

Miller was offering Oquendo 500K to fight him he isn't going to be accepting what Ortiz can offer unless it gets him a title.

Ortiz needs Haymon to dig deeper into his pockets to bankroll his career but that won't happen with Ortiz being so old. If he was a younger contender a promoter might accept some early financial losses for later long term gain but Ortiz's options are very limited.

I get exactly what you're saying and agree fully but, that's down to Ortiz's promotional team to make the reward worth the risk.Ortiz isn't the only fighter to ever be a member of the who needs him club. He and his team just need to work harder at it. He has had the opportunity to raise his profile under Matchroom and succeeded in stinking the joint out.

Agreed though I don't think his promotional team can or are willing to stump up the cash to bankroll better opposition to make the risk worth it for anyone decent.

Your right he's not the only one in the who needs him club, which is why Joyce looks to be the most obvious next step for him. Ortiz needs to be calling out Joyce now and putting pressure on his people and Joyce's people to make that fight. While Joyce is still a novice and unproven he's a name that's well known and a win would be a forward step and better than another Kaufmann or Cojanu level opponent.

The Usyk fight is another that he should now be pushing for. Why he's the least likely option with Povetkin being a more lucrative option for Usyk, he needs to move heaven and earth to try and secure this fight. Accept whatever is offered and travel because this maybe the only chance he ever gets again of fighting a top heavyweight. If he wins he immediately is relevant again and will have a marquee win over a big name which is something he currently lacks.

Why would Whyte want Ortiz? Ortiz has only one notable win in Jennings. Whyte has already beaten a more proven fighter in Parker (has wins over Takam, Ruiz and Hughie) and brutually KO'ed a guy in Chisora who has a simlar standard career best win as Ortiz (Takam is similar level to Jennings in my opinion).

Granted Ortiz would be a tougher challenge than Brezeale but if he beats Breazeale he becomes WBC mandatory.

I can almost 100% guarantee its Hearns not Whyte

Whyte would fight anyone, however he has somehow become a PPV star so Hearn wont let him go near anyone dangerous until its Joshua or Wilder. Hearns milking his PPV stars as usual.

Ducking Ortiz haha! He's about 50 and his only good win is a few years ago Vs Jennings

Browne Parker Chisora is a good years work.

Can you not take your rose tinted glasses off and acknowledge that?
