Luke Campbell moved up 4 weights when he turned pro. I get your point it doesnt make sense and i think its a big reason why Luke Campbell hasnt yet won a world title.
I am hearing the Boxnation event on 24 August might be off?? apparently clark is out and limond is out too. doesnt leave a main event fight there. Nothing posted officialy which I always find suspicious -- like they want to see if it will sell anyway
Good fight but not great for scottish fight fans. No main event scottish fighters? Who has Brophy got Billy ?
Picking up on this after the results at the weekend -- kash farooq showing he is a class act by beating butcher easily. I thought it would have been harder work for him. Massive fight between him and Mcgregor when it happens!!!!! Saw a clip of a really nice ko from Dean Sutherland who was mentioned on here before. Looked the opponent up and he was 5-1 with a couple of good wins. Sutherland is 20 so looks a good one for the future. Heard gym stories about how good he is and his team seem confident with that opponent in his forth fight !
kash looked good but lets be brutally honest he was boxing iain butcher who in the past few years has done very little except from miss weights for title fights. lets see what happens if he fights lee mcgregor, imo lee is levels above him and will pick him off and possibly stop kash late on. butcher hit him very clean on multiple occasions and he has moved up from fly/super fly and isnt a noted puncher lee has won all 5 by ko i've also been hearing about dean sutherland but wasnt surprised by his ko at the weekend, his opponent was 35 years old, had previosly been ko'd by a debutant and hasnt beat anyone with a winning record. i watched dean against kevin mccauley and he looked decent but he still needs a lot of work imo before we start calling him a good prospect especiually with his lack of amateur fights
Butcher hasnt done much but is still a good operator. Essomba caused Mcgregor problems so I think this is a real 50/50 -- I would edge mcgregor too because of his power but it would be a great fight. Not sure where butcher goes from here Sutherlands lack of amateur experience is not really relevant -- I believe he had over 150 kick-boxing fights and is cutting it as a pro and in sparring with top pros too. I think he will be ready for the winner of Burt and Black for the Scottish soon. Martin Harkins also in the mix at Welter so it is a good division up here now.
in regards to sutherland, he is 4 fights in to his pro career so how can you say he is cutting it? he hasnt been tested yet and although i too have heard sparring stories they are just that sparring stories. i am not saying that he cant go on to be a good or even great professional i just think it is too early to say for sure. yes i knew about his kickboxing experience but they are 2 different sports his team mate paul kean looked good as an amateur boxer/kick boxing and his first pro fights etc but the first time he stepped up he was beat by stefan sanderson at scottish level so im sure you can see why im sceptical
I was out in Florence on Friday night for the Matchroom card, there was a Scottish fighter on the undercard, John Docherty, think it was at Middleweight, he won in the 2nd round against a 1-3 Mexican . Very early days to say how far he can go, but I'll keep a loose eye on him.
i say that because in his debut he stopped someone who is known for being very durable, he looked good in his fight on the bbc stream and then he ko'd a 5-1 opp in his 4th fight Comparison to someone he trains with is not really relevant imo -- time will tell and we will see what he goes on to achieve !!!!
your obviously a fan of his, a freind or part of kynoch boxing ok he stopped a durable journeyman in his first fight, the fight i watched on bbc he looked amazing in teh first, broke macaulays nose but then seemed to lose his way and become very repetitive. his 5-1 opponent on friday was a 35 year old that turned professional at 33, was ko'd by a guy on his debut in his 2nd fight and hasnt beat anyone with a winning record. listen i am not hating on the kid, he is young, ambitious and as i said could go onto a big career in boxing but the facts at the minute are he is looking good against poor opposition and i feel it is fair comment to wonder if a lack of real amateur boxing behind him will maybe hinder him against the better fighters in teh uk especially at welter/super welter.
yes that is john docherty, he was on the gb squad and won a bronze at the commonwealth games earlier this year. his former team mate boris crichton also looks pretty good and boxed at 81 in the ams winning 2 scottish titles and 2 gb titles so is another one to watch. i like the look of nathanial collins and reece mcfadden too, they are training with joe ham sr who is starting to build not a bad stable of boxers.
A very good prospect from up north will be turning over ,sep /oct this year!! Luca the magician micheletti is the young lads name. Very skillful boxer, great feet and head movement, hardly gets caught , and is 6' 3" at welter!! Has topped loads of am bills up and down the country, and has only lost once in the last 3 years! Well.suited to the pro game, and an exciting young lad to watch, should get to a decent level !!
