I know that Folley and Machen are 1-0-1...with Eddie not copping a win in their series, but I've always figured Machen to be the more "outside the box", ballsier, tougher of the two. I know the dangers of using this kind of deductive reasoning with fighters, but I reckon that Machen did better vs a rather prominent common opponent than Folley...namely Sonny Liston....and I've always though that if Eddie were to have gotten a shot at the pre-exile Muhammad Ali, that he would have improved on Zora as well. He would have found a way IMHO to survive and be more of a pest than the oh so buttoned down Folley was to Ali. Maybe I'm wrong, I dunno, but then again.....

Walcott, he was faster and the better athlete in the ring. Likely hit harder too.

No ,sounds plausible alright. Yep he'd have lost to Ali but maybe gives him more of a hard fight than Folley did .

Fergy, I've always had this "gut feeling" about Machen.

Could have been a chess match meaning Joe and Eddie.
