Will Lomo vs. Rigo be similar to Carlos Monzon vs. Jose Napoles?

Just watched it again lol I fail to see what 4lbs could gave salvaged for Lomas son Rigo here because it wasn't a physical fight.. He was simply out thought, out skilled & out classed. Loma didn't impose his physicality on him.. He out boxed him! Rigo fought dumb & then quit lol 4lbs wouldn't have changed that.. He stood centre ring, ducking low & got picked off mostly! Why would losing 4lbs have changed that lol

You can all keep crying about 130 like 126 would have been any different but the gulf in victory was so wide that it puts to puts to bed any notion of a vastly different outcome at 126..

Loma schooled the talented Cuban slickster so bad  his mouth go shut! Don't care if its not his natural weight, no ones saying its Lomas best win, he simply did his job! & be honest, Spence v Garcia size disparity is much worse.. & that's Spences best opponent by miles!

It was a masterclass by Loma. One dumb try hard on here was saying how “Highly Competitive” it would be and seemed to get all angry at the predictions of Loma schooling him. Lol :D

The YouTube comments in favor of Rigo before the fight hilarious. Fun to go back and read.

Yes I actually think most fighters begin to slow down at around 31. As in after that I think their speed, reflexes, punch output, athleticism begins to taper off. But a lot of fighters will use veteran tactics to mask it. After 35 though it becomes basically impossible to hide it. By 37 you're looking at a fighter who has been slowing down for maybe 5 or 6 years.

So it matters. It just does.

But other than the three year age gap this is a decent comparison. But it's hard to do that because 34 to 37 is an eternity in boxing years. Especially for lower weight classes.

I actually cannot remember the last time a 37+ year old beat an elite fighter in his prime. It basically DOES NOT happen.

37+ beating elite fighters? How old was Wlad when he beat Povetkin? Hopkins has more than a few past that age. Vitali whooped a few past that age. Foreman vs Moorer.

    It happens

Hopkins never beat a p4p level guy at 37+.

Povetkin wasnt p4p. Moorer wasnt p4p.

Old guys never beat elite fighters.

Unless you're just throwing around the phrase "elite" willie nillie, it doesn't happen. Basically we are talking about all of the times that a 36+ guy who was on the p4p list ever beat another guy still in his prime who was currently rated p4p. I've looked it up already. The answer is 6. Ray Robinson did it twice. Archie Moore did it once. Dick Tiger did it once. Times it's happened in the last twenty years is 2. Hopkins vs Trinidad and Mayweather vs Canelo. That's less remarkable considering those two are ped cheats who managed to extend their youth artificially. Or you could add the caveat that Canelo was still green or Trinidad had moved up in weight. But technically you could say that it does happen. It's happened 6 times in roughly 100 years and I don't believe the victor of those 6 fights ever gave up a substantial size or reach advantage.

Well there Mervy Pervy:wanker:wanker if you’re going to sit there and say green ass Canelo (Pre-Clenelo) was elite when Captain iv fought him then ALL of the fighters I mentioned were too. And they were in all honesty.

But this discussion turned to this because of the subject of Rigo getting embarrassed by Loma and his age excuse right? :) Well Rigo was considered by most to be a PFP elite when that fight happened and he didn’t show any signs of slowing. Just met a better fighter ;) Some need to get over it.
