I think Gvozdyk is better p4p than Mikey Garcia

Both of these guys have similar styles. Very classic, orthodox, well schooled technicians.

And I know Garcia has been rated p4p, but I dont see him being better than Gvozdyk.

Neither of them are paper champs. But neither have a monster CV either. And before you say this is ridiculous actually look at Mikeys resume. His two best wins are Robert Easter and Adrien Broner.

Gvozdyk's got that power. I'm not saying its lights out, but damn when he lands you feel it. Mikey is no light hitter, but doesnt level people like Gvozdyk does.

Absolutely. Stevenson is a far better win than anything on Mikey’s resume.

Well he's older, has ONE title which he won over a 41 year old man, has ONE title fight to his credit and less than half the fights, but to each his own...

Grow up old man, and give a fighter some credit once in awhile and drop this nauseating agenda that's got you hurtling headlong into a permaban. After all you picked Gvozdyk to win by KO11, try a more unpredictable tact and gloat and praise the Nail for carrying out the plan you envisioned for him from the get go, and hype him from the rooftops. Try being a maverick once in awhile, instead of this tired ass maudlin act.

@tinman I think you might be right. Mikey Garcia has one of the most overrated resumes in the sport..

Mikey is by far the more accomplished (putting individual wins aside, because having a better single win really means nothing in and of itself) but the Nail might be the better h2h fighter at LHW than Mikey is at 135/140lbs.

Gvozdyk is without a doubt better than Garcia. I heard Mikey didn’t want any part of The Nail in sparring. Brandon Rios gave it a go and got a bad case of “Whiplash” as he called it. Melon head Mikey said “No, gracias.” in his own gym :)

Overrated or not, it has quite a depth of solidity (again, even lacking a single standout marquee victory).

Look at his last ten. Easter, Lipinets, Broner, Zlatičanin, Rojas, Burgos, Martínez, López, Salido, and Barrios.

Is there a prime elite in there? Maybe not. Is there a tomato can, however? No. That is ten in a row in the B- to B+ range, and he dominated the majority of them. All in all, that kind of run is pretty rare in this sport.

Can we really see Gvozdyk losing to any if those guys or their p4p equivalent? He would probably end up stopping damn near every one of them.

Who do we suppose figures as the LHW equivalent of Lipinets or Broner? ...maybe for the latter Browne, and for the former...eh, Bivol? I think Bivol might be too good to be cast as Lipinets writ large...

Honestly, I kind of feel like Gvozdyk more or less is the 175lb version of Lipinets.

Having a better single win means a lot if you've never fought an A level guy. How did Naseem Hamed look against B level guys? And then how did he look when he stepped up to the A level?

A lot of p4p guys in this sports history have become totally exposed as not p4p quality when faced with a legitimate A level opponent in the ring.

(I know after their most recent performances it has become fashionable to shit on Bivol and boost Gvozdyk, but...I'm not as given to wholesale changes of mind on fighters on the basis of single nights as most... :nusenuse)

I feel like Trump's America is causing people to look at Mikey's career glass half empty.

His pre hiatus work is actually reasonably meaty. And the fact he has added titles in 2 more divisions since should add to his p4p credentials for sure.

Agree the Nail is potentially a better H2H fighter and has the fights to prove that if they come off.

Granted, but... Are you saying that Prince Naz isn't still recognized as having overall had a pretty great career? I'm pretty sure he's considered a legend domestically in the UK, and certainly he is remembered among 90's fans globally (particularly Americans) that watched the saga of the feather-range wars unfolding on HBO as having been an icon, perhaps behind only the big 4.
