If that is what happens, then I'm perfectly happy with that. Both would be fun fights. What irks me is just not knowing what's going to pan out exactly.

    Me, defensive?

You are the one who started throwing around insults out of nowhere, when I was having a respectful discussion with another poster regarding the fight.

You could argue that's what it indicates and to be fair to Whyte based on his record over recent months any heavyweight in the world that doesn't consider him a credible threat is a fool, but there are other, perhaps more plausible explanations.

It’s took me some time but Whyte has completely won me over. He is capable of knocking anyone out on his day. Whilst I think he lacks in a few fundamentals, he is exciting and more than makes up for it with his left hand.

He is so unlucky just how avoided he is now.

How many people are actively avoiding him? Chisora didn't avoid him, Parker didn't, Pulev hasn't, Ortiz hasn't, Whyte himself said no one knows Usyk so why should he fight him, WIlder fought Ortiz and Fury (both of whom I consider better than Whyte), I don't for a second believe AJ is trying to avoid him...so I'm unsure who is actively avoiding him here. Breazeale offered to fight him earlier last year too when the dispute about who the 'actual' mandatory would be.

I just mean Wilder and AJ mate, but more the latter as Wilder will hopefully be fighting Fury. I don’t mean AJ is actively avoiding him, but I think the people around AJ who make thd decisions want nothing to do with Whyte at the moment. They are more interested in expanding the commercial brand. Miller doesn’t deserve a title shot (yet) but money talks.

Watched a little bit on Twitter last night where Bunce said Wlad is coming back in April not V AJ or Fury but a big name UK heavy.
To me that can only be Whyte. Then AJ was set to face Miller in April - which i think could be a dangerous one for AJ. AS i think Miller carries he weight real well and it will take cannon to put him over - probably needs to a quick handed puncher like Wilder rather than a slow more heavy handed type like Joshua.

I hope Wilder and Fury can do it again. Fury outboxed him totally in spells with some great footwork and head movement but he only landed one or two punches at a times. Wilder looked awful but then produced real spiteful punches fight ending shots. It was a classic and hopefully a second fight will lead to a clear winner.

The count was fine, the slightly elongated walk to the corner probably helped but as Wilder went for the kill Fury seemed back in control of himself and arguably got the better of the rest of the round. He looks in great condition maybe a slight tweak to the work rate would see him win a second fight and then the winner can fight Joshua (if he gets past miller)

Maybe, though that would surprise me. I wonder if that's why Hearn didn't bother trying to win the purse bid against Pulev as that would (assuming Whyte won) have made him mandatory for AJ. Hadn't considered that as an angle.
Begs the question as to what they do with Whyte in the meantime though

I think maybe that’s why we might be hearing talk of Klitschko mate. Not sure how much truth there is in it but my guess is that this would pacify Whyte for now.

See Benson on Twitter just now posted saying Whyte has been offered the April 13th fight but the amount stated is a joke. If I go a bit conspiracy minded, then perhaps you're right. Stick him on PPV against Chisora so the amount he values himself increases and then make it so that HE rejects the offer instead of their side. Interesting.

Both are better boxers, but Wilder only fought Ortiz well past prime and I think the Fury fight was a classic cherry pick gone wrong. The Fury that faced Seferi or Pianeta was nothing like the version we saw in Dusseldorf or LA. Whyte is in his physical prime and came with a big paycheck from Hearn, Wilder didn't seem interested

I can see reasonable arguments from either stance. It could be the case that I'n looking back retrospectively too much. Assuming that's my angle, then it is undeniable that Ortiz and Fury (as voluntary fights) are two hugely risky fights against legit top 5 fighters (IMO).
If you want to take the approach that Fury looked like **** so it would have been an easy win and that Ortiz is old so that should have been easy, then I won't grumble obscenely. Either way, be that poorly calculated or not, they were still gambles to some degree. And I'm willing to give Wilder some benefit of the doubt given that he was happy to go to Russian= to fight a slightly younger Povetkin. Wilder's side for not fighting Whyte seemed to be from the angles of A) he only wants to fight AJ or B) he'll only fight Whyte if he's promised AJ after. Personally happy with those reasons (on the assumption of veracity). Again though, I really ****ing hate Hearn so that could be bias on my part.

For reference, I thought Ortiz would beat Wilder (was damn nearly right) and thought Fury would be iced whilst ahead of the cards (again, nearly right).

EDIT: cleaning up typing; pub lunch init.

I'm sure Eddie doesn't want Joshua to lose, but if he did my bet is that he'd prefer it be to a fighter he already had signed to Matchroom?
