Good bare bones fight featuring 2 guys I found entertaining. Lt. HW 15 rds as always. I cant see this one going the distance. I favor the Russian by stoppage.
You are correct. He was a light heavy as an amateur but as a pro he started as a cruiserweight. One of my friends trained with him at his gym in Arizona a few years back and said he is still in terrific shape. The guy still hits like a truck.
I really wish Jirov would ha e stayed at Cruiserweight instead of moving up in weight. I would have loved to seen him fight Mormeck, Bell and Haye at Cruiserweight. Mormeck vs Jirov would have been a war.
I do remember he won a gold and the trophy for best boxer of the games come to think of it. Thanks for jogging my memory!
I don't think Andries is easy. He beat Czyz without much trouble and won the light heavy title a few times. He was strong and crude but he was decent. Strong. Not a great fighter but underrated. Bad style for Hearns, who hit him right up the middle.
Yep. He beat Antonio Tarver for the gold. It was close fight but I remember Tarver was completely out of gas at the end of the fight and would have been stopped had there been another round.
