A protected PED cheat vs an over-matched journeyman, no interest in watching that.

Smith does have somer power and is a big guy. 14-2 in his last 16 and have finished his last 7 wins.

Jones should win this, but Smith deffo have a chance.

Exactly,Smith is far better then some are making out and the only reason the fight won't be close imo is that Jones is 1 of the best of all time and there isn't many fighters at light-heavy or heavyweight who would even be competitive against him.

Not sure if your serious lol but I'll bet this fight does at least as well as Jones last fight at UFC 232 which did 700k PPV buys ,there isn't many in MMA or boxing doing those numbers

I don't think it will do 700k - Jones vs Gus is a bigger fight, and had a dramatic lead up and it was a rematch of one of the greatest UFC fights.

    Jones as headliner:

    UFC 128: vs Shogun - 490k
    UFC 135: vs Rampage - 520k
    UFC 140: vs Machida - 480k
    UFC 145: vs Evans - 700k
    UFC 152: vs Belfort - 450k
    UFC 159: vs Sonnen - 530k
    UFC 165: vs Gus - 310k
    UFC 172: vs Glover - 350k
    UFC 182: vs Cormier - 800k
    UFC 197: vs OSP - 322k
    UFC 214: vs Cormier - 860k
    UFC 232: vs Gus - 700k

Shogun, Rampage and Machida - all were 'big' names that could sell PPV's. Evans had a history with Jones, and were a big draw himself. Sonnen knew how to sell a fight. Gus the first time, Glover and OSP weren't big names, and those three are clearly the lowest PPVs for Jones. Smith is in that category with Gus 1 and Glover, which drew 310k and 350k.

I do think Jones is a significant bigger draw now after the Cormier fights the rematch with Gus and all the drama and controversy surrounding him.

Woodley vs Usman doesn't add any PPVs - it's the main-event by itself that sells as always. I guess this card will sell 450-500k PPV's - everything over 350k should be considered a succes.

I heard UFC can manipulate PPV numbers (not joking). I cant remember where I read UFC can manipulate the PPV numbers released. It was from a credible source - "Lance Quagmire" or some Twitter PPV guy like that.

I would be shocked if Jones-Gus II actually did 700k. If so then Jones is actually quite popular. (Jones has been one of my favorite mma fighters).

Those are just the north american numbers by the way and while I have heard they are sometimes not accurate I doubt they would be far of,hell even if he is drawing say 500k he would still be 1 of the biggest draws in combat sport.
Since UFC never release the numbers I doubt they are influencing numbers sourced independently but not much surprises me these days but they have been historically used and I believe they are relevant.
I get my info from more reliable and credible sources then Lance Quagmire who for example tweeted before UFC232 that they were struggling to sell tickets despite all evidence evidence it was already sold out lol

Well the same source that gave the numbers for those events listed already said it did 700k and while it and those numbers may not be spot on,they wouldn't be far off and also that is just the north american numbers,Jones is massive worldwide.

Ehh. Are we on the same page - or is it just me tripping?

Jones vs Gus did 700k - but i can't see Jones vs Smith draw 700k, maybe 450-500k.

Sorry mate my bad I thought you were disputing the numbers for UFC232.
You could be right about his upcoming fight with Smith drawing closer to 500k,I know Woodley isn't a big draw but plenty of people are wanting to see him get beaten along with that big undercard with former champs and big names like Askren should get the views up.
