Ya, and there's even a plethora of other aspects that could play more deciding roles in a fighter's "chin," but thats the beauty of boxing, everyone is different and has their own approach. George Chuvalo is rightly considered by many to have one of the greatest chins in HW history. What a lot of people dont know or never realized is that he was phenomenal in subtly rolling with punches, usually at the last second, which took just enough off the landing shots for him to be able to absorb them. It's not like he had a skull with 30 times the bone density of everyone else and the neck, back, and secondary muscles that were off the charts.
I don't disagree entirely. It is perhaps a matter of terminology. There are degrees of fragility. Some fighters have very fragile mandibles and are appropriately termed "glass jawed." But there are others who also have issues with punch resistance. Perhaps not as profound as an Amir Khan or David Price, but they also can't stand up to punches to the extent that a Chuvalo, Froch or McCall would. There is a gradation, certainly - but this doesn't mean that punch resistance is not an issue for those "in between" fighters also. And by the way, Wilder does have a fragile mandible. It's only VERY careful matchmaking that has kept him vertical. People overrate his victories over mediocre, ailing and overrated Bermane Stiverne and ancient and grossly overrated Grandpa Ortiz on this account.
It shocks me that people in this day and age still deny that glass jaws exist in boxing. It’s irrefutable.
Give me a quote of me or anybody else in this thread denying glass jaws existence. I like it when somebody makes up an argument he's comfortable working with, and then responds to this "argument". But sorry, it didn't work.
Sorry but amir kahn exist good boxer good speed has power and he also has some ot the finest china and that is what has defined him
Your join date is 2013 and you still seem to know nothing about glass jaws. Sorry, glass jaws exist, and we will talk about them.
And then feather fisted Harold Sconiers knocked him into the middle of next week, so Wilder's team had the video removed from existence to pretend it never happened!
Actually, there's quite a few glass jaws in the UK, it seems! This content is protected This content is protected
