Again I would tend to agree that Grebs workrate would take him to a UD against the less busy Ketchel over 15 rounds. If it is over 45 rounds then it might be a diferent story.
Ketchel's biggest asset is his power... Against Greb I don't think it's going to matter much as Greb had an ATG chin and he's just going to chop Ketchel down and apart, nullifying a lot of that power.
From all the Greb footage I've seen, I say Willie Pep wins the entire fight without ever being in the same city.
And from what I have seen of Greb's record and footage of the fighters he beat I say he could possibly beat Carlos Monzon and Marvin Hagler in the same weekend. Which counts for more at the end of the day?
i find this very hard to comment on. i have only seen very little of ketchel........and he looked terrible in those flics. he looked like a barroom brawler with little or no coordination/balance. but his record indicates that he must have been a great fighter! with greb its even worse cause there is no footage. but again going be his record and reports, he must have been awesome. like a middleweight henry armstrong. weather these reports are accurate however......no one can tell. often i have found stuff i have read in books or even ring magazine not to be true. when a brilliant defensive wizard turned out to be just a solid pro who fought in kinda cutie fashion. so simply going by record, i would pick greb. but when you havent seen the fighter, you cant analyse his style. and you cant say which fighter would present stylistic problems for him or would even beat him head to head.....without having to be the greater fighter.
Greb wins easy. Ketchel is easily the crudest Hall of Fame fighter Ive seen on film. Many old timers think Ketchel was something special. I wish someone could quantify as to why. If you ask me Ketchels resume to me is a bit thin, and the two filmed fights of him are not impressive at all. I have no doubt Ketchel could hit for his size, but based on what Ive seen he isnt going to win many decisions vs other champions at middle weight. Ketchel has a punchers chance, but Greb had an all time chin. I think Greb wins easy. I suppose fans of Ketchel will point to his 6 round draw vs Langford, or win over an older Jack OBrien. While the draw with Langford is nice on paper, it appears the two men were using the 6 rounder to build interest for a high stakes match down the road.
I think Greb would take Ketchell's pwer and outwork him. Helluva fight though. Ketchell is underrated IMO
