I just watched Ortiz vs Mendoza and the only time Mendoza hit the canvas was from a vicious low blow and even then he voluntarily took a knee and Ortiz caught him with some huge clean shots too
Only Usyk has the potential to do anything at HW. Breidis, Gassiev, Dorticos etc all get ruined above cruiser.
Yeah he would probably beat Breazeale, I got Wilder, AJ, Fury, Usyk Ortiz all beating imo. Whyte would be the favourite, stylistically Miller vs Gassiev is a 50-50 so is Parker vs Murat.
“The power he has shown me in the gym sparring against [heavyweights Dominic] Breazeale, Charles Martin, Gerald Washington, Chris Arreola, is very real,” Sanchez said. “All those guys, he’s been able to dominate and hurt. Once we get him to the heavyweight division and stabilize him at 225, 230, and put some muscle on those pounds, he’ll be very effective.'' -- Abel Sanchez Which HW's ribs did Gassiev break in sparring? This content is protected Timestamped This content is protected ''Ask any given sparring partner who’s been in there with him and they will tell you he’s a small heavyweight who fights like a big heavyweight. “Murat Gassiev – that motherbeeeper hits hard,” heavyweight contender Chris Arreola said of his experience while training with the Russian banger in Big Bear, California. The two worked in the same gym space for their recent training camps. Arreola was preparing for his December 12 showdown with Travis Kauffman, a fight he won by split decision. The final outcome was disputed, but Arreola’s energy at fight’s end was attributed to the work he put in during his time in Big Bear, also crediting Gassiev as one of the fighters who pushed him in the gym. “He caught me in the ribs during one sparring session, I just never been hit like that before,” Arreola admitted. “This was a camp I was already determined to leave as a trim and ready fighter, but I knew I couldn’t half-ass it when he was there. Whenever I saw him in the gym when I arrived, I was like “Beep, not that guy again.” But he makes you work in the gym, he makes you a better fighter.” 'Here is another endorsement. World-class cruiserweight Ola Afolabi (who has sparred both Wlad and Vitali among other HWs) proclaimed that Gassiev is a certified assassin. “Probably the hardest puncher I’ve ever been in with,” said Afolabi, a pro since 2002 and a three-time cruiserweight title challenger ranked No. 10 by THE RING.'
Gassiev is getting the type of quotes that Earnie Shavers got back in the day, lol. Incidentally, he's also around the same weight as Shavers: 210lbs. Gassiev is definitely a legit puncher at any weight.
Yeah he's got sick power This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected Yeah he probably weighs about that or a bit more on fight night
Parkers apparent 'no' to Ortiz is hard to find on the net. I couldn't find anything of Ortiz making an official offer and Parker just saying no. However, as we all know, there's plenty on Joshua with Ortiz reportedly saying that AJs ducking. There's more on AJ ducking Ortiz than Parker ducking Ortiz so AJ should be at the top of your list. For the record - I think AJ would beat Ortiz.
Ortiz nearly 40. Heart problems, pace to much for him. Usyk or any tip 10 heavy can take Ortiz now, don't make him into something he's not.
I can't see Parker refusing the fight, though his handlers might consider he needs to rebuild before putting him in with top level guys again. I don't doubt that fighters are reticent to fight Ortiz, but I think the whole ducking issue gets blown out of proportion. Plenty of fringe guys willing to fight him I'm sure, so why is it we only see him in against bummy types like Cojanu and Martz? Might be the case that Ortiz is just a complacent guy wanting to get the biggest fights but not willing to put himself in the ring with anyone who might potentially disrupt his plans.
Looks like it, I suspect they all get dented when you hit them hard but the dent in that one looks particularly deep
