I don't really disagree with any of that, but it has to be said that with better conditioning he could have "gotten on his bike" in the last few rounds without quite so much clinching (or even outright running). With a better gas tank he would have been able to stick & move, pot shot his way through landing just enough to keep throwing off Bolivita's rhythm. Even if he still lost the rounds he could've done so without leaving quite as sour a taste in many fan's mouths.

Jaider Parra last night in Argentina scored an upset in which he did the same thing, ruined Maidana's game plan from the get-go just as Plant ruined Uzcátegui's - but the difference is that Parra was still going strong after ten in the face of Maidana's persistent if unimaginative attacks, whereas Plant spent the last few rounds here sputtering and making it ugly.

Agreed. Uzcat had no margin of error the second half of the fight, and even though he knew it, he also knew the gas tank wasn't there to turn the heat up sooner.

I already felt nauseous after just taking a look at the SMW rankings a few minutes ago, but after hearing that I think I am actually going to vomit

I had Uz winning the fight 115-112, scoring the 8th round even. I thought Plant was up 39-35 after 4 but had Uz winning the rest of the rounds. I don't even listen to the commentators anymore. They become a snowball rolling downhill. Once they see a guy out in front they never change course unless the guy gets knocked down.

    Nawwwwwww
Plant dominated to me for an easy 7 out of 12 and the two KD sealed the faith of Uzcátegui however one KD was suspect as more of a slip but with the ref calling it a KD it really helped Plant.
I could see Uzcátegui showing up for a rematch and taking the belt back as he just got off to a horrible start and never recovered until past the mid way mark but the two KD had him where he required a KO to win

I'm going to unban him just to see his reaction.

In part because Plant was able to attack the body, and drop him with hooks whenever he tried to mount an attack. He had to wait it out and hope that Caleb would tire to the extent that he could eventually lower the boom. But Caleb takes a better shot than anticipated, so that didn;t happen.

I won't dispute that analysis. I felt Uz kept the pressure on Plant and Plant didn't do enough to win the rounds. But I understand fully the effectiveness Plant displayed in the early rounds that I think carried over for most people scoring the fight. Plant provided a compelling story outside of the ring as well. I'm happy for the guy.

    Nah...

Hart can't bring the heat like even a sluggish Uzcat can, and doesn't take as good a shot. Smith and Benevidez are probably the only two guys at 168 that I can see beating Caleb at this point.

Caleb - Ramirez would be an interesting fight. Smith will beat them all , I’m not 100% sold on benavidez but he’s a very good talent in a poor division.
