Whether you think Golovkin won both fights (I personally do), lost, or they were draws, I think it's pretty clear Golovkin can't stop Canelo. He likely thinks he'd be robbed (again). There are still a number of interesting fights for him (honestly more than enough to take him to the end of his career). They don't really need each other for legacy.
GGG's not declining the trilogy... He's holding out for a bigger percentage (like the rematch). GGG has a lot of bargaining power — 99% of the world thought he beat Canelo 2X.
