Apparently Hearn will share in the next couple of weeks, what the offers were that he sent out. From Dillian we know it is LESS than what he got for Chisora and that is ridiculous.
What f anything was the minimum revenue guarantee? How much was he projected share of ppv revenue? Was there an upside limit? Until we know the offer how can we call it ridiculous? Based on one talksport interview with Dillian?
Agreed, we need more details. The answers are coming Neo, relax. At a very high level, we know this fight does huge numbers in Wembley and on PPV. Going by Dillian Whyte as PPV draw in his own right, it would overshadow Povetkin vs AJ, and Parker. Possibly even reaching Wlad vs Joshua level. The UK market are WELL aquainted with both fighters and the beef. I walked out a random London tube station today, and overheard random Londoners discussing Dillian Whyte. These were guys in suits. There has to be at least 20-30 mill in the pot. So if Whyte made 5 ish mill off the back of Chisora.... and he was offered LESS by Joshua for a rematch... What percentage does that work out to be for you?
I think you have to be careful in labelling Whyte an established PPV draw. He's done decent numbers in two fights, one against a guy that had just benefitted from the exposure agInst AJ and the second against a guy with some domestic following of his own. Isolating how much of that interest is driven by Whyte is a matter of contention. My feeling is that his current position is largeLy the result of intelligent matchmaking and promotion from Hearn and if he were to try and seek his own value in the market beyond Matchroom he may not like what he finds. Not to say that he should accept an opening offer of course, no doubt there's some room to negotiate on either side. He deserves an offer that recognises his current status as a top five hw. Still a big chasm between the two guys in what they bring to the table. If he wants to wait and fight as mandatory he will likely have to settle for less.
You answered ya own question lol... what makes u think it does 10k max?? Are you just another Joshua hater?!
Thats what I thought but there was a interview a while back saying Parker got near enough this for their fight so...... Also recent Hearn IFL interview..........Kugan asks about % about Wilder and Fury for the AJ fight, Kugan says is it 60-40 and Hearn replys not a million miles off, so am guessing Fury and Wilder offers are a little below 40%.
The way purse splits are done is very subjective anyway, there is no meaningful formulated approach to go by except what the opponents bring to the table via recognition and achievements. Promoters will look at the previous fights of an opponent, like when hearn assessed Wilder's previous purse winning prior to offering a Whyte match up where Wilder was used to 2-3 mill splits. Dillian is clearly well marketed and known on the UK market, and yes so is Chisora and now Parker. But Dillian is regarded as second to AJ both in terms of threat and marketability in the eyes of majority of UK punters. Whyte brings a lot more than Povetkin or Takam for instance... a LOT more... because outside of title holders rankings are not as important as you think with negotiations as compared with market value of a fighter. Dillian is right up there now and in the minds of all punters who want knockouts... Dillian delivers. They know they get their money's worth.
No, but it's accurate and goes some way to disproving the idea that Fury and Wilder are somehow generating mega money between them.
Problem is that Whyte's strength is delivering the UK market and that's something that AJ largely has covered already.
It doesn’t, and isn't accurate either. Thing is though, why can’t you stand the idea that 2 fighters who are not called ‘Anthony Joshua’ can generate a big fight between them? It really hurts you and I find it really weird.
I think AJ vs Fury would be the biggest fight ever staged in the UK and would deliver the absolute maximum that the domestic market could deliver. It would also command significant overseas interest, second only to AJ vs Wilder in that regard. Whyte is a level below in terms of domestic interest and significantly below in overseas. That said he's probably the third biggest fight available to AJ after those two, I just think it's quite a gap between them. No figures obviously, just my reading of the market.
