Whats your ****ing problem? Who should Ortiz fight? Joshua? Wilder? LMAO Be realistic. Joyce doesn't want the smoke right now. There is no Top 10 HW right now who would fight Ortiz so Ortiz is picking a solid Top 20 HW like Hammer to fight. Hammer is ranked #13 right now. I can't read that **** anymore... Stop whining about the choice of opposition. Good fight and good opponent for Ortiz. He can make a statement here considering how many rounds Fury and Povetkin went with Hammer.
It's a step up from Cojanu and Kaufmann at the very least. Hammer has beaten Price and Teper so he isn't completely useless. But obviously this isn't a competitive fight. Hammer is small and isn't a puncher, he might be durable enough to take Ortiz some rounds but he has no hope of winning. At some point Ortiz needs to step back up to world class and he needs a meaningful win to perhaps do that. The Joyce fight needs to happen this year ASAP, Ortiz is nearly 40, time isn't on his side.
That is a surprising fight, but there won't be any surprises in it... Ortiz by a late stoppage or a decision.
Povetkin was sparring that guy! Clearly Povetkin was carrying him .Lol Only good thing about this fight is afterwards people can stop claiming Hammer is a top 20 guy, you have head cases that still put him in top 10? It is a good fight for Ortiz only if he stays busy , still will be a added addition of a very laughable resume anyway for anyone trying to spin Ortiz career.
No Povetkin was gun shy Hammer outweighted him big time & was shelling up. Hammer is a top 25 in this era. He beat former roider Teper. Hammer is no world beater
Probably so, but I don't see what the point of the Wilder rematch will be. Wilder has the reach and will not come forward like Ortiz requires to look impressive or win the match. I do love watching his style. It reminds me of James Toney at heavyweight. That being said, IMO it's not entirely effective against movers or anyone able to box from a distance.
Remember when Wach iced Hammer? Kind of funny when those who criticise Miller's record are championing Hammer as a credible opponent, when either Washington, Duhuapas, Wach, Adamek or Dinu would mop the floor with him. Another slow plodding featherfist in a never ending list of "stay warm" fights for Ortiz. Could fight Joyce at anytime, or a number of other top/credible guys, but no, hes finished.
Hammer's a lot better than given credit for but Ortiz will stop him late similar to the Kaufmann fight.
Not as bad as some are making out, Hammer can fight but I don't think he can hurt Ortiz and Ortiz can hurt him. Fury schooled him and made him quit so it will be interesting to see Ortiz perform given he is the no 1 in the division...
If Whyte was fighting Hammer next he would get SLAUGHTERED on here by the same posters giving Ortiz credit.
I'm quite a fan of Hammer but this is obviously a disappointing fight. Unless Ortiz is shot he should be able to win this relatively easily. Trouble is, Ortiz has been fighting guys like this his whole career, and only once really taken a step up. I just feel like at this point this is the extent of his ambitions, barring another undeserved title shot.
