Who's shown to of had a better chin GGG ? Carl Froch ?

3G went up to elite level of the division below him, once, and survived.

Froch went against several elites in his division and survived, though I recall Froch being floored in two fights, he recovered ok to win. In one droppage he was 37 years old though, facing an elite puncher so, we dont really have a 37 year old 3G to compare against an elite puncher.

 

I was always a froch fan, but to me he only got dropped heavy by Groves because he was caught cold, he took harder punches after without buckling but also he only beat the count because of his warrior reputation too was looked upon favourably by the ref

 

sure but surely its warrior ability which allowed him to beat the count and survive.

If he had JUST a warrior rep, he;d have got koed.

I am wondering if you are referring indirectly to Groves talking about chin rep after he got smashed by froch. Grves was wrong, he got stopped because he DOESNOT have warrior chin, not because his rep for being chinny.

 

Probably Golovkin but I don't think he's faced punchers as big as Froch did, so I'm not certain.

Canelo, Jacobs, Lemieux, Brook etc don't compare to Groves, AA, Kessler, Pascal, Taylor in terms of power. Who knows if GGG would look as durable against guys that hit that hard.

 

it is hard to say also since 3Gs career isnt over so we dont know. We dont know if 3G will get dropped by elite power at age 37 yet.

Also Froch had longer title run/world class run. 3Gs starts in 2014 to 2018, Frochs started in 2008 till the end of his career, double the length. So you would have to expect hiccups and more damage done in a longer run.

 

More votes for Golovkin even though he only fought one A class fighter(Alvarez). This goes to show how easy it is to deceive losers into cheering on a hype job.

 

you may have a point - if you compare like for like, removing all but one of Frochs elite opponents, then he has never been fazed either. he was only floored against two elites out of the six elite bouts he took on. And he got up to win both.

I believe that I ahd a point when I said we should wait till 3G's carrer is over. ...lets wait till 3G faces another 5 elites as I predicted, and then we will know.

 

Groves can punch, but he is definitely not elite.

 

Golovkin has a better chin, never been rocked, let alone put on his ass.

Canelo is probably a very close second in terms of chin, currently. He was rocked only once in his younger days when he was much smaller.

If we are just talking chins then I'd say Froch. Froch always took big shots and from bigger punches than golovkin. I'd say against legends you've probably got more chance of stopping Froch due to catching him more flush and more often than ggg. But in terms of pure chin it has to be Froch for me. If golovkin had taken shots like Froch did that were flush on chin against big super middles he may have been stopped or decked. But it's hypothetical as golovkin doesn't get hit quite as flush as Froch
