I remember way back, people were really high on him when the super six happened.. He was athletic but kept flopping around on the floor a lot! Did he underachieve? Or was it never really in him to begin with?
Huge fan of The Matrix here and I still like him. But It takes one good punch for somebody to realize that punishment isnt for them and I think that’s the case with Dirrell. He has cat like reflex and physical talent close to Roy jones but mentally he couldnt take it. It’s pretty sad because he has all the tools smh.
Join a monastery, now living a calm and peaceful life happy with a world away from the bad men who hit him
He got KTFO 3 times now despite having only 1 KO loss on his record. Think he kinda had enough. And if he continues on a lower level, he's a Haymon fighter, so he's relatively active compared to others fighting once every blue moon.
You'd think so, but in reality it's not the case at all. Since the S6, Dirrell has fought 9 times in 7 years. Skipped 2012, fought 3x in 2014 and just once every remaining year. I hope he is good with his money, because otherwise he will be broke pretty soon.
I really liked him as a fighter and for just the smooth way he talks, he was a good trash talker, he sounded cool. I also think he could have been very marketable too had he stayed busy and on focus. It's a shame he did'nt do more in his career.
He stated in his last loss that he retired. Mentally weak. If he was as mentally tough as his brother he could have been something.
^This^, way better than his brother but not as mentally tough, too bad because he could of been something really fun to watch!
Glad he's out of boxing. Another case of a wasted talent. Could have been a special fighter but sadly turned into another Zab Judah who couldn't handle situations when the going got tough. I still remember his disgraceful performance way back against Curtis Stevens. Always found Dirrell annoying so it was satisfying to see DeGale beat him and then Uzcategui retiring him for good.
