With the announcement of Canelo vs Jacobs I decided to take a look back at the last time Canelo fought an athletic boxer his size with good lateral movement. Many fans to this day say that Lara was robbed, but after watching it closely I just didn't see that. Lara was giving an illusion that he was giving a boxing lesson but really he was just moving a whole lot. Canelo was putting a constant attack on Lara's body and answering back every time he got tagged himself. Not saying the fight wasn't close as Lara was effective with his 1 2's and 1 2 1 combinations but I think the right man got the decision. This content is protected
Could have gone either way. I had Lara just edging it, but prime Lara was an exceptional fighter, a better fighter than Jacobs. Also Canelo has only just hit prime in the last couple of years, despite being undersized at his current weight.
Lara vs. Canelo wasn't a very close fight at all. Lara made him look pedestrian. Trout vs. Canelo was close/definitely closer than those scorecards (I thought Trout won but could see how he lost especially with the knockdown).
