Is he the second most famous boxer in history? I'm not sure anyone this side of Ali captured the (overall) public's awe and imagination quite as much as Tyson did and then we have the controversies (****/prison etc). The guy is a boxing icon in both good and bad ways.
Yes, not even close. This interview went much better than anticipated. I literally thought Tyson would struggle to strong more than a dozen words together and would have his handler in the studio to talk for him.
I'd wager so ... and like Ali, it was as much - if not more - due to his lifestyle outside of the ring as anything. How great these guys were as boxers is always up for debate, but the general public keyed in on them for who and what they were when they weren't fighting - and that translates into crossover fame. SRL is pretty famous, but only as a fighter; Ali and Tyson were at the next level.
Great listen. Mike doesn't want to revel in his past fame, that's for sure. Seems to remind him of the demons he has to keep in control.
That's making some of usfeel our age .Being able to remember Tyson bursting on to the scene as little more than a kid !
Mike messed his back up a few years ago when he took that nasty spill from a hover board. The video is still on Youtube. Been a few years now where every time Tyson speaks he seems drugged. If it's painkillers, the most likely form is fentanyl. Normal opioids don't have those affects unless he's mixing with Sativa or THC. Fentanyl is the strongest and most potent painkiller by far. Shame on the medical industry for putting people on that **** because you're instantly hooked. It also causes premature greying and, obviously, poisons your mind, soul and body. And just like Tyson states in this video, once you're hooked on these types of substances - it's a wrap.
I think the interview was a big letdown. Tyson just isn't sociable as much as Rogan wanted him to be. Impossible to really ask him boxing questions and get a honest answer, a bit like Foreman in that regard.
