Roy Jones vs. Canelo? Jones would destroy him and stop him in about 7 or 8.

Boxing needs a twin sport where roiding is a must....like a comic book style backpack with roid tanks being pumped into dudes 24/7 that's what I think.

Jones didn`t punch harder than GGG, Roy wouldn`t land as many power shots on Canelo because he was scared of getting countered that`s what happened in the first Griffin fight and the Harding fight and their`s no way Roy could come out blasting v Canelo like he did in the Griffin rematch, Canelo would have landed far more on Harding and Griffin despite both guys being naturally bigger, they were pretty poor fighters compared to Canelo and GGG at the lower weight class.

Roy at middleweight would land his punches and not have to worry about being countered. That is how fast he was. Toney in my mind was quicker than Canelo or at least equal and he did not counter Jones cleanly. And Jones is naturally bigger than Canelo. I don't see Canelo lasting against the speed and sharpness and power of Jones at 160. Jones fought Hopkins and Toney and Virgil Hill a Hall of Famer (a little old in 1998) stopped him with a body punch. I don't think Roy would come out blasting I don't think he has to. You don't think Jones would land on Canelo more than GGG? Jones was a quicker sharper puncher, not as physical, but sharper.

Canelo is a better more powerful body puncher than Toney was and GGG`s jab is sharper than Roy`s was.

If Canelo sees the final bell I'd be surprised. RJJ way too fast and mobile, he'd box circles around Canelo. Canelo looks great when guys come to him but he has to chase he looks far less effective. Against the much taller, rangier RJJ who would land and be gone before he could counter he'll find himself frustrated and befuddled.

RJJ's power as well at middle was brutal, hits as hard as GGG. But the difference is RJJ with his speed of delivery and variety would land far more on Canelo than GGG could and Canelo would be walking into shots because he'd be forced to chase. RJJ breaks him down and stops him inside 10 rounds.

Canelo is too small for Roy. We are talking about Roy Jones Jr. right? I saw him fight live. Not in a huge fight. When I lived on the west coast years ago I went to see Mancini/Haugen in Reno. And on the undercard was Jones vs. Serwano. Very impressive. He landed hard punches in scary fashion and he was a hard punching middleweight. Canelo would not know what hit him.

This mythical RJJ speed is tiresome, how fast was he CLOCKED compared to other fighters? Actual speed measuring using scientific equipment? Subjectivity, bias and fanboyism/nostalgia distorts the mind on certain topics.

Don’t be an idiot. Roy isn’t a fighter where no video exists of him in action. Nostalgia doesn’t factor into how insanely fast he was for his size. If you’re trying to argue that Roy isn’t one of, if not the fastest fighters ever than you are clearly blinded by either bias or stupidity.

Actually, a sports science show did clock his speed. And it was proven to be phenomenal. But only a douche bag would need that scientific confirmation if they had actually watched Roy fight in his prime.
