Is Matchroom getting a bit Thin on PPV Fighters ??

    They'll build people up, Eddie is great at getting casual fans into believing it's a 50/50 fight or that they hate each other etc

    I agree with the 1st 3

    Crolla vs Loma is garbage
    Ritson is domestic as they come
    Kelly needs to lose weight, but has potential
    Okolie is probably the worst fight I could ever imagine watching, wouldn't watch him if he was free LOL

    Buatsi is the only one you could say with a bit of authority that he's a star in the making tbh

    As I've said before the above PPVs are not worth discussing due to the lack of real competion around at the time

    Yes they are light on PPV stars but give Edward his due he knows how to build one up

    NO i’m not old enough to remember Warren’s PPV’s.

    However i am old enough to remember Hearn’s, as it just so happens that i have become an adult with significant disposable income to spend on things
    i choose under Hearn’s Era of PPV.


    I don’t like Hearn’s Strategy of 5 PPV’s a year and serving up titless saturday fight nights. I don’t like Hearn or Sky how they have creeped up the price from £14.95 in 2014 to standard £19.95 in 2019,

    I don’t like how i pay Sky Sports £50 a month and get dogshi* in return.
    And I don’t like how Sky Sports Advertise Joshua as part of Sky Sports when he’s only available to watch live on Sky Sports Box Office

    There’s a lot of things I don’t like about Boxing currently at the moment. You and your Posts are just another added to the list you mug.

    I think Matchroom might need to start doubling up with big fights to make ppv outwidth Joshua. For example Callum Smith against someone like Ramirez with Liam Smith v Brook as chief support. Them type of double match ups anyway

    Haven’t seen any that Eddie Has Built up from the ground. Anthony Joshua could’ve been promoted by my grandmother and still become a star.

    However, I have seen Sky create PPV Stars on both sides of the aisles (Joshua etc) and PPV Conmen (Haye and Bellew). Mixed in between those two demographics, you have Whyte, Chisora, Frampton, Fury, Brook, Khan etc

    I think he has done a fine job with Whyte myself
    Sure he would have done OK without Hearn but without the promotional machine behind him he stays as an undercard fighter

    He will looking to his Olympic signings over the next few years to step up also
    They may not make it but Sky and Hearn will give them the tools required

    That's the route I expect them to go down in the interim; well at least until the latest line of olympians are ready to step up.

    Callum Smith would step up you’d presume.

    Bar him, I suspect that Eubank will soon fall out with ITV and be back on Sky this year.

    Six PPVs this year does seem a stretch for Sky/Matchroom unless Khan re-signs.

    It might seem a stretch but you can guarantee we’ll get at least six.

    2x AJ, Whyte’s other fight that isn’t v AJ (no chance he leaves Matchroom), Crolla v Lomachenko, Brook v anyone with a pulse and then Katie Taylor to ‘make history’ by becoming the first woman to headline a PPV.

    All with the usual ‘stacked undercards’ featuring your old favourites Conor Benn, Dave Allen and David Price.
