is this the “other offer” for a fight which Warren is talking about. Can’t be Valdez or Santa Cruz are they’re fighting next month. GRJ? Doubt it. In the meantime, Warringtons team are disputing the purse bid split which is now 65/35 instead of 75/25. Purse bids delayed to Feb 5th.
If that was the case fair play to Warren but id be very nervous for Josh in that one. Stevenson is starting to look really really good, but then you never know, would he be the best name on Stevensons resume if they did?
Josh wouldn’t turn down a challenge though and this would be a great fight to get him some US coverage, maybe better to catch Stevenson before he has a few more fights and there are a lot of eyes on him.
Of course it would be the best name on Stevenson’s resume, josh would have to be favourite for the fight on resume and experience also josh isn’t over the hill real risky fight and a step to early for Stevenson.
Warrigton is coming off of schooling Carl Frampton and Lee Selby's asses back to back, Stevenson is coming off of beating Jessie Cris Rosales and Viorel Simeon. Let that sink in.
Point taken. You think some of us may be getting a bit carried away with Stevenson? Or just Warrington may be too big a step just now?
Big time, he's not even remotely close to ready for Warrington. It would be a mugging. I doubt he'd beat Frampton either. Yeah, the brakes need to be pumped a little on him, he's a talented kid, but it must be kept in mind, everyone he's beaten with ease thus far in his career, the Top 10, maybe 15 at Featherweight would destroy them as well.
Stevenson is a talent, Olympic medalist great pedigree etc but Warrington has the battle hardened professional in-ring toughness and experience. It would be the perfect chance for Warrington to beat a good name in the US. Do we think it’s the “other offer” warren is talking about though? What else is out there at this current time?
Stevenson seems keen to get on with it though, maybe him and his team see weaknesses in somebody like Warrington which I can understand. To the eye he doesn’t look overly powerful and technical, things which frampton said were wrong and surprised him.
It won't be Stevenson I'll tell u that for nowt JW is at a period in which he's found his peak & form & is riding a wave, I think they'll just concentrate on the bigger fight's. Listen to the pod it will give u an idea of where he's going Warrington would work Stevenson over right now IMO though.. Big time!
