Don't get me wrong, Manny going through so many weight classes is quite the feat, but his 8th belt is complete BS.
150 lb catch weight, for a vacant belt... And Margo had never beaten a top 10 Jr. Middleweight.

 

Other boxers have also skipped weight classes.

Duran and Mosley both skipped junior welter, jumping straight up to 147.

This could have been significant for Duran. Had he won a belt at 140 he would have been a three weight champ on beating Leonard and the worlds first ever four weight champ on beating Moore.

As for Leonard, his light heavyweight belt is a problem. Firstly the fight with Lalonde was contracted with a weight limit of 168 lbs. That’s not light heavyweight. Secondly Leonard weighed in at just 165 (super middleweight) with weights in his pockets!

Leonard never fought at 175 or even close to it. Yet he gets the credit for being a five weight champ. This was an historic achievement at the time and deemed a big deal.

 

Yes and Ray was actually awarded the super middle and light heavy titles for that one fight by the WBC also.

The media also hyped it up crediting Leonard as the first five weight champ in history.

However, Hearns in fact had become the first real five weight champ in history three days earlier. Hearns, of course, captured five world titles in five legitimate weight classes.

 

150 lbs, neither guy was a top 10 contender at the weight. Yeah, **** that belt.

 

He would've really covered ground had he won a belt at 135 and 154.

Coming off a loss and suspension which put an asterisk over his career up until that point.

Credit to arum he managed to slide that fight and not catch nearly enough bull**** for it.

 

Well, if you look at who runs the WBC, you can see why Margo got that high of a ranking.
Same **** with the WBO, IBF and WBO

 

It doesn’t really mean anything when you have a guy starting as a teenager in the lightest weight divisions. Then you look at guys like Broner and Garcia who can claim to be 4 weight division champs. It’s meaningless and doesn’t really reflect anything.

 

It doesn’t apply to Pac though. He is a legitimate champ in 7 weight classes
