Spinks landed hard in the first round and set the course for the fight. Qwai gave him far more respect than others. As far as Foreman goes Qwai flat out quit after starting to feel some of Foremans shots, especially to the body. Foreman did not land his best but Saad was not even in an old Foremans power galaxy.

Man I love to watch Qawi so much! One of the most underrated fighters from the 80's.

What about that deviated septum that Qawi had during their fight? I think Qawi said it only gave him about 50% of his breathing capacity.

Matthew Saad Muhammad's power gets overlooked too.

Fair call by Dwight. Saad was a vicious puncher.

I also doubt that Evander was juiced at 190 but thats neither here nor there.

A lighter than he was meant to be Foreman hammered Qawi's body and made him quit. Old Foreman was ludicrously heavy handed though. I still wince from the body shot he hammered Bert Cooper with that led to his surrender.

    Ok then, here you go:

As you know, the man Dwight fought and discussed was named Matthew Saad Muhammad, not “Franklin.”

I think it’s strange and possibly disrespectful to intentionally call a man a name that he formally renounced for religious reasons (and I’ve noticed you always do the same thing with Dwight Muhammad Qawi). It’s why nobody says that “Cassius Clay” beat Frazier and Foreman. It’s why Ali got so pissed at Ernie Terrell. And it’s why nobody else here uses “Franklin” or “Braxton” unless they’re specifically referring to the parts of their careers before Qawi and Saad Muhammad changed their names. Do you disagree? Am I missing something?

First off I started watching both Franklin and Braxton when that was there names not after the fact like you. Ali I started watching when he was already known as Ali so that's why I call him that. Sound simple enough to you? Unlike you I come out and say it the first time as I have nothing to hide. I lost track of how many of your posts have suttle racial overtones to it. Tiresome to say the least.

None of the many, many other people who watched Qawi and Saad Muhammad before they changed their names (40 years ago) have any problems calling them by their chosen Muslim names. I’ll leave it at that.

PS — there are subtle overtones every single time we have a thread on one of these guys and you make a point to call them by the names they formally renounced. Not sure if you care but a ton of Muslims would find that very offensive.
